I heard many of my friends tell me that every senior should go to prom and that is a “one time deal.” Sure it is, but I didn’t think that it was really my kind of deal. I decided to humor two of my closest friends that kept on pushing me on the subject of asking someone to prom. We thought up and created a creative way to ask said person. After quite a load of thinking and deliberating about the possible outcomes of me asking the person out to prom, I went ahead with it. Like I thought, but not like I hoped, I was rejected, albeit not harshly. I don’t think this was due to any flaw in my asking strategy or a flaw in myself, but just that she had other plans already. Even though she said she “might have plans,” I asked anyway. Every girl deserves to get asked to prom, and the fact that I went for it is all that matters anyway.
