Join us on Saturday, April 2 at 2:00 pm in the Griffin Room for some great jazz with the “Sweet As Sugar” jazz trio. This trio consists of Bill Shontz on Vocals, Sax, Flute, Clarinet, and Record-ers; Zack Danziger on Guitar, Looper, and Vocals; and Kate Nicolai on vocals. This group of talented eclectic musicians has an ability to come up with unique arrangements of well-known songs that are both beautifully done, and attractively performed. Their voices blend marvelously, and with Zack’s looper, both he and Bill can solo on almost any tune they play while being accompanied by a rhythm track that is recorded live on the spot. Their three part harmony and scat singing add to their original songs and well known “gems”. They love to, as they say, “de-compose”
songs and make them into their own, adding their own scat singing and whatever else fuels the creativity of the moment. Zack Danziger is a masterful guitar player with unusual and creative twists that don’t succumb to “Cliches” and a smooth Michael Franks jazzy type voice. Bill Shontz is as one critic said “a master of wood-winds… literally” and his romantic voice and his biting growl add dynamics that are truly unusual. Kate Nicolai’s tender, sexy voice reminds one of Diana
