Long ago, the prophets foretold of an anointed man who would be known as the Jewish Messiah. He

would be a descendent of King David, born of a virgin in the little town of Bethlehem. According to theprophets, this man was to die for the sins of the world, and his sacrifice would provide peace between manand God. Who is this man?

Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently

and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in

them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. It was

revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, when they spoke of the things that have

now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.Even angels long to look into these things. 1 Peter 1:10-12

Scene:

Sarah and Katherine are shopping together before Christmas. They are carrying bags in their hands. Many

people are scurrying about around them doing their shopping.

Katherine: Christmas is in four days!

Sarah: I cant believe how many people are doing last minute shopping.

Katherine: People think that Christmas is all about shopping and presents, but it is really all about the

birth of Jesus.

Sarah: I know. Jesus might be all right for you, but Im Jewish and we dont believe in Jesus.

Katherine: I know that. But I believe that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and the Saviour of the world.

His real name is Yeshua, which is the Hebrew word for salvation.

Katherine sings the song Messiah:

Christmas now is drawing near,

Its hectic every day.

Look around, theres people hurrying everywhere,

They dont even seem to care,

A man (who is an angel) suddenly comes up behind Sarah.

Angel: The Messiah will be born in Bethlehem.

The man suddenly leaves. Sarah spins around and sees that nobody is there.

Sarah: Did you hear that?

Katherine: Hear what?

Sarah: A man came up behind me and said that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem.

Katherine: I should hope so! Thats where he was born.

Sarah: Who was born?

Katherine: The Messiah! Jesus!

Sarah: No! I dont believe that Jesus is the Messiah.

A group of carollers enter.

Katherine: O Sarah! Here are some carollers. Lets listen to them sing.

The carollers sing:

How Far is it to Bethlehem

How far is it to Bethlehem? Not very far.

Shall we find the stable room lit by a star?

Can we see the little child, is he within?

If we lift the wooden latch may we go in?

May we stroke the creatures there, ox, ass, or sheep?

May we peep like them and see Jesus asleep?

If we touch his tiny hand, will he awake?

Will he know we've come so far just for his sake?

Great kings have precious gifts, and we have naught,

little smiles and little tears are all we brought.

For all weary children Mary must weep,

then here, on his bed of straw sleep, children, sleep.

The carollers leave.

Katherine: What a lovely song! And isnt that funny! Its about coming to Bethlehem to adore theMessiah who was born there.

Sarah: It is a nice song. That man must have known that they were going to sing that song.

Katherine: Hey look at the time! I have got to go. Do you want to meet tomorrow for lunch?

Sarah: Yes. Lets have lunch tomorrow.

The scene changes to Sarahs bedroom. Sarah is lying on her bed asleep. A man enters the room and

Sarah suddenly wakes up.

Sarah: Who are you? What are you doing here? Im calling the police!

Micah: Not so fast young lady. We need to talk.

Sarah: Is this a dream, or is it real?

Micah: I believe that I have been invited into your dream.

Sarah: Invited? Who invited you?

Micah: The Most High God himself!

Sarah: God invited you into my dream? Why?

Micah: Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Micah. I am a Prophet of the Most High God.

Ever since I was a very young boy,

Ive had a calling from God,

Being a Prophet is my fulltime job.

I receive revelation from the Lord,

And I write words that will last,

Everything that I write will come to pass.

Dreams and visions are what I see,

Thats the way that God uses me.

I live my life obeying all of his laws.

He has given me a purpose in life,

I never fail to always speak his truth.

Sarah: Well, you might be who you say you are, but I have never heard of you!

Micah: Young lady, if you read your bible, you would know who I am. Even though I am

considered to be a minor Prophet, it doesnt make my message any less important.

Sarah: What is your important message?

Micah: Here is what I came to tell you: But you Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are small among

the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose

origins are from of old, from ancient times.

Sarah: What does that mean?

Micah: It means that the Messiah is going to be born in Bethlehem.

Sarah: In the future?

Micah: Yes, in my future.

Sarah: Is Jesus the Messiah? He was born in Bethlehem.

Micah: I do not know who the Messiah is. I only know what God has told me to write about the

Messiah. He will be born in Bethlehem. And then there is that other thing.

Sarah: What other thing?

Micah: The part that says his origins are from old, from ancient times.

Sarah: Does that mean that he somehow existed way before he was born? That doesnt make sense!

Micah: I have often thought about this. A man lives and then he dies and his Spirit returns to God.

So it couldnt be a man. It must be God himself! He is the only one who has lived forever

from ancient times.

Sarah: So God himself would somehow be born as the Messiah. Wow! What a concept!

Micah: Well, I have told you what you need to know. I must go now. Sweet dreams!

Micah leaves. Sarah lies down in bed. The choir sings:

The city, whose star is shining bright,Arise and come proclaim your victory,

It is the next day. Sarah and Katherine are eating lunch together.

Sarah: I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed that this prophet named

Micah told me that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. And get this. He also said

that the Messiah would be God himself! Is that crazy or what!

Katherine: Thats not crazy at all. The Messiah was born in Bethlehem and he is God

himself. He is the Son of God and he is God.

Sarah: The strangest part is that I found this Micah in my bible and the exact

words he told me in the dream were in the bible. I must have read it before. Maybe its

dj vu.

Katherine: Sarah, I think that God is trying to tell you something! I think that he is

trying to tell you that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah.

Katherine sings the song My Messiah.

When Im sad and feeling down I can just cry out and my messiah, is there,

When I have some happy times I can share my joy with my messiah, he cares.

Ever since I put my trust in Jesus,

My life has never been the same,

It used to be that I was lost but now I have been found through my messiah, he saves,

One time I had anxious thoughts but now I find my peace through my messiah, hes great.

After the song, a man comes up behind Sarah.

Angel: The Messiah will be from the House of David.

The man runs off as Sarah spins around.

Sarah: Oh no! It happened again! Did you see that man?

Katherine: What man?

Sarah: The man who just said that the Messiah would be from the House ofDavid!

Katherine: Sarah, I think that you are starting to go crazy. Did you get any sleep last

night?

Sarah: No! I already told you. It seemed like I was up half the night talking to

this Micah. I dont know if I slept at all!

Katherine: But you told me that it was a dream!

Sarah: Well, it seemed so real!

A group of carollers enter. They sing:

While Shepherds Watched

While shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,And glory shone around.

Fear not!" said he; (for mighty dread

Had seized their troubled minds,

"Glad tidings of great joy I bring,

To you and all mankind.

"To you, in David's town, this day

Is born of David's line,The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord;

And this shall be the sign:

"The heavenly babe you there shall find

To human view displayed,

All meanly wrapped in swathingbands,And in a manger laid."

Thus spake the seraph; and forthwith

Appeared a shining throngOf angels, praising God, who thus

Addresses their joyful song:

"All glory be to God on high,

And on the earth be peace:

Good will henceforth from heaven to man,Begin and never cease!"

Sarah: I should have guessed. This is some sort of conspiracy and I am starting to

figure it out. Watch this Katherine. Could you please sing that verse that I needed to

hear again? You know the one!

A Caroller: Gladly!

The carollers sing:

"To you, in David's town, this dayIs born of David's line,

The Saviour, who is Christ the Lord;

And this shall be the sign:

Sarah: Do you see the pattern here Katherine? This man tells me that the Messiah

will be from the house of David, and then a verse in the carol says the same thing. I thinkthat I am in for a very long night again! Ill see you later.

The scene changes to Sarahs bedroom again. Sarah is lying on her bed asleep. A man enters the room

and Sarah suddenly wakes up.

Sarah: Oh no! Another strange dream. Are you a Prophet from God?

Jeremiah: Yes. I am a Prophet of the most High God.

Sarah: What is your name?

Jeremiah: My name is Jeremiah.

Sarah: Now you I have heard of. You must be a wonderful, loved Prophet.

Jeremiah: Wonderful? Loved? Do you have any idea what you are talking about?

Sarah: Well, I just assumed that since I have heard of you, and you are a Prophet,

that you must just be wonderful.

Jeremiah: Maybe God thinks I am wonderful, but nobody else does. I have been

insulted, spat on, flogged, beaten, arrested and imprisoned. And that was just yesterday!

Sarah: What did you do to deserve that?

Jeremiah: I proclaim the word of the Lord. I tell the people to repent or Jerusalemand the temple will be destroyed. But nobody ever listens to me!

Sarah: Dont you ever get discouraged that nobody ever listens to you?

Jeremiah: Yes I do sometimes. But Im still fairly new at this.

Sarah: How long have you been doing this?

Jeremiah: About 40 years!

The people they treat me so wrong,

Jeremiah starts to cry.

Sarah: Why are you crying?

Jeremiah: I am weeping over the sins of my people. I am afraid that they are so farfrom God that they wont even recognise the Messiah when he comes.

Sarah: Do you know who the Messiah is?

Jeremiah: No I dont, but I know some things about the Messiah.

Sarah: Tell me what you know about him.

Jeremiah: The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up to David a

righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.

In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by whichhe will be called: The Lord Our Righteousness.

Sarah: So he will be a descendent of David. Just like the words of the carol.

Jeremiah: Carol? Who is Carol?

Sarah: Oh, it is a song about someone named Jesus. It says that he will be a

descendent of David.

Jeremiah: Yes, this is true. The Messiah will be a descendent of David. But then

there is that other thing.

Sarah: What other thing?

Jeremiah: The part that he will be called The Lord Our Righteousness.


Jeremiah: Well, there is only one Lord. He is the God who created the heavens andthe earth. Somehow, the Messiah will be God himself.

Sarah: Hey! Ive heard that one before. What else do you know about theMessiah?

Jeremiah: The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenantwith the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. This is the covenant I will make

with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my law in their

minds and write it on their hearts.

Sarah: Wow! How is this possible?

Jeremiah: There is only one way that I know of. God will put his very Spirit intoman and his Spirit will teach them the ways of God. That is the only way. It will all

happen through the Messiah. I have said what I needed to say. Sweet Dreams!

Jeremiah leaves. Sarah lies down in bed. The choir sings:

King Messiah (words and melody by Dan Olds from Isaiah 9:6-7)

In the city of David,

A child was born to us,He came as our savior,

Our Messiah in him we trust.

Hes the wonderful counsellor, the mighty God,

The everlasting father and the prince of peace,Of the increase of his government therell be no end,

Hes our king, king Messiah.

In the line of David,A son was given to us,

He is our redeemer,

Holy and righteous and just.

He reigns on Davids throne and over his kingdom,

Exalting and upholding it with righteousness,

The zeal of the Lord has established him forever,Hes our king, king Messiah.

It is the next day. Sarah and Katherine are frantically walking around and talking.

Sarah: Thanks for meeting me Katherine and going for this walk. I have so much

to tell you!

Katherine: Did you have another dream?

Sarah: Yes. This time I dreamed about the prophet Jeremiah. You know how that

man and those carolers told me yesterday that the Messiah would be a descendant of

David? Well, the prophet Jeremiah wrote that very thing in his book.

Katherine: Yes, it is true. Jesus is a descendant of David. His whole genealogy is in

the New Testament.

Sarah: Really? Is there anyone else that could be the Messiah who is a

descendant of David?

Katherine: No. All of the genealogy records were destroyed 2000 years ago when the

temple was destroyed by the Romans.

Sarah: Well, Im still not convinced that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. God will

have to convince me himself.

Katherine: Sarah, dont you see? God is convincing you himself. He is sending you

prophets in your dreams who wrote prophecies about the Messiah.

Sarah: Why doesnt he just tell me that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah in astraightforward way?

Katherine: We all need to figure it out for ourselves. I will pray for you that you will

figure it all out. I will pray that Gods Spirit convicts you that Jesus is the Messiah.

Sarah: Really? That is what Jeremiah said. He said that through the Messiahthere will be a new covenant and God will put his Spirit into us.

Katherine: Yes! When we put our faith in Jesus, God puts his Holy Spirit into us andwe live our lives guided by his Spirit. Our lives start down a whole new path. Katherine

sings the song Path of Life

He has come and set me down on the path of life,

He guides my every step on the darkest night.

It was never like this before, and then I walked through his door,

Now I am on the path of life.

He fills me with his joy in all of his ways,I choose to follow him for all of my days.

Angel: The Messiah will be born from a Virgin.

The man runs off while Sarah spins around.

Sarah: Oh! I knew that he was coming, but I still missed him!

Katherine: Missed who?

Sarah: That man told me something again. He said that the Messiah would be

born from a Virgin. Lets wait a moment for those carollers to come.

The carolers enter and sing:

All is calm all is bright'Round yon virgin Mother and Child

Holy infant so tender and mildSleep in heavenly peace

Sarah: I heard the words virgin mother and child. So Jesus was born from a

virgin.

Katherine: Yes he was. Mary was a virgin when Jesus was born.

Sarah: Ok tell me. Which Prophet said that the Messiah would be born from avirgin?

Katherine: I believe that it was the Prophet Isaiah.

Sarah: Ok, Im going home and I am going to read the book of Isaiah. Ill be

ready for him tonight. Ill let you know what happens.

Sarah is sitting in her bed. She is holding a bible.

Sarah: I am going to stay up all night reading the book of Isaiah

Sarah spends some time turning the pages

Sarah: Ok. Here it is. Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The

virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. This

cant be Jesus. The Messiahs name is going to be Immanuel! I think Ill keep reading.

Sarah keeps turning some pages.

Sarah: Boy! How many chapters does this book have? 66! This guy sure wrote a

lot!

As I walk along the road that I am on,

Sarah falls asleep. She suddenly wakes up as a man enters the room.

Sarah: You must be Isaiah.

Isaiah: Yes, I am a prophet of the Most High God.

Sarah: Well, I am ready for you. I read your book. Well, at least I read the first 7

chapters. I only have 59 more chapters to go!

Isaiah: So, you must know why I am here.

Sarah: Yes, you have come to tell me that the Messiah would be born from avirgin.

Isaiah: That is correct. If you read chapter 7, then you must know this.

Sarah: But your book says that the name of the Messiah would be Immanuel.

Isaiah: No. I said that he will be called Immanuel. That means God with us. The

Messiah will somehow be God himself!

Sarah: I already know that! Ok, I have just one question. Is this a dream? Or is itreal? This is my third night in a row. I mean, I am sitting in my bedroom talking with

you. I am pinching myself and I am not waking up.

Isaiah: Let me tell you about reality. I have seen the Lord seated on a throne, high

and exalted. Now that is real! Everything else is just created by God. Reality is what

God wants it to be.


Isaiah: Look at it from my point of view. One minute I am walking on a road.The next minute I am in your bedroom talking with you. I just go where God sends me,

and say what God tells me to say, and write what God wants me to write. God is reality!

He can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. If he chooses to send angels here rightnow, then it will be done.

Many children enter the room dressed as angels and they dance around.

Isaiah: Do you see what I mean?

Sarah: Wow! I think I am starting to get it. What else do you know about theMessiah?

Isaiah: I dont even know where to begin. I have written down over 80 propheciesabout the Messiah. I am sure that anyone that reads my book can figure out who the

Messiah is! In fact, be sure to read chapter 53 if my book. You will see Gods perfect

plan to bring salvation to all mankind through the Messiah.

A man of sorrows, a man of suffering,

Each of us has turned to his own way,

The Lord has laid upon him all of our sins,He was oppressed, He was afflicted,

Like a lamb that was slain.

It was the Lords will to crush him, to crush him,He made his life a guilt offering,

The will of the Lord will prosper in his hand,

After he dies, After he suffers,

He will see the light of life.

Sarah: Wow! That is Isaiah 53? I wonder why I have never heard that before!

What does it mean that he will see the light of life after he dies?

Isaiah: It means that the Messiah will die for our sins, but God will resurrect him.

Sarah: That is incredible! Tell me about some of the other prophecies that you

have written.

Isaiah: Ok, here are just a few of them. Here goes: The Messiah is God himself.He will be born from a virgin. He will minister in the Galilee. He will be a light to the

Gentiles. He will be a descendant of David. He will have the full Spirit of God upon

him. He will come for all people. He will heal the blind, deaf, and lame. He will be thenew covenant. And there is much more!

Sarah: Oh my gosh. This whole thing is so overwhelming! I should be able tofigure out if Jesus is the Messiah!

Isaiah: Who is this Jesus?

Sarah: My friend Katherine has told me that he is the Jewish Messiah.

Isaiah: If he is, then he must fulfill all of the prophecies that I have written, alongwith the prophecies of all of the prophets before me and the ones that come after me. It is

up to you to determine this. I must go now. Sweet dreams!

Sarah goes back to sleep. The choir sings:

When God did come as a man,

His birth it was full of wonders,

He came like no other man,

He lived his life to bring salvation,

It is the next day and Sarah is talking to Katherine.

Sarah: Katherine, I met Isaiah last night. He told me all about the Messiah. It

looks like Jesus might be the Messiah, but Im still not convinced.

Katherine: Sarah, what is it going to take? Did you know that Jesus fulfilled over 300

prophecies from the Old Testament? That should be enough to convince anyone that he

is the Messiah.

Sarah: 300? That is a lot of prophecies! It sure has been an interesting 3 days.

Now where is that man? Im ready for him now.

Katherine: Sarah, God is not going to keep giving you chances forever! If he doesntshow up, what are you going to do?

Sarah: Ill just have to spend some time sorting everything out. Maybe I am just

imagining the whole thing.

Katherine: Well, I will keep you in my prayers. To put your faith in Jesus, all you

have to do is repent for your sins and believe in your heart that he is your Savior. Its

Christmas eve and I need to get home. Ill see you after Christmas.

Sarah is sitting in her bed.

Sarah: Well, no man and no carollers today. Maybe God is mad at me. Or maybe

I just imagined everything. Or maybe I am just going crazy. I am sure looking forward

to a good nights sleep. Dear God. I am all mixed up right now. I know that I amstubborn. Please give me one more chance. If Jesus is truly the Jewish Messiah, please

show me.

Sarah goes to sleep. While she is sleeping, several shepherds enter her room. Sarah is

startled awake. Her bed is moved out of the room and she finds herself in a field with

the shepherds.

Sarah: Where am I? Who are you?

A Shepherd: We are shepherds watching over our flocks.

An angel suddenly appears.

Angel: Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the

people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

The choir sings the Hallelujah chorus.

Angel: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor

rests.

A Shepherd: Lets go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord

has told us about.

Sarah follows the Shepherds to the manger where Mary and Joseph are holding thebaby Jesus. The Shepherds sing the song Hine Yeshua.

Hine Yeshua

Here is Yeshua the King of Israel,

He who came, praise his name.Know that Yeshua the ruler of the world,

Comes again, praise his name.

In hope we lift our eyes to see His coming,

To comfort Zion and enlighten Israel.

The poor and afflicted will be joyful,And the blind and the lame will then be well.

Sarah: Oh my gosh! Its all true. Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and the Saviour of

the world. What do I need to do now?

Angel: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart

that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Sarah: Its you! I recognize your voice. You are the man that keeps telling me

about the Messiah!

Angel: Yes, I am an angel of the Lord come to help you understand the good news

of Jesus that you have been hearing.

Everybody leaves the stage. Sarahs bed is returned to the stage and Sarah lays down

in bed. After a short pause, Sarah jumps up out of bed.

Sarah: Its all true! Jesus is the Jewish Messiah and the Saviour of the world!

Dear God, I believe that Jesus is Lord. I believe that he died for my sins and that God

raised him from the dead. I repent for my sins and invite you into my heart and ask youto change my life. Amen. Oh, I am so excited! I must go tell Katherine. Its Christmas

morning and she is at her parents house. Im going there right now!

The scene is the house of Katherines parents. Katherine and her siblings are eating

breakfast with her parents. Sarah bursts in on them.

Sarah: Oh Katherine. I know its all true. I have accepted Jesus into my heart.

Merry Messiahmas!

Father: I have never quite heard it said like that before, but Merry Messiahmas!

Everybody says Merry Messiahmas to each other. Sarah and Katherine hug.

Sarah: I now have faith in Jesus!
