It is my pleasure to be a southerner - born and bred in Atlanta. I attended Georgia State University and completed my degree in Business Administration at Valdosta State. The early years of my married life I spent in several southeastern cities, moving because of Lynn’s job. We moved to Marietta in 1988. After being very involved in school and children’s activities while they were growing up, I went to work for the WellStar Foundation in 1996. In 2004, family responsibilities required that I resign, but I began working for Marietta Nondestructive Testing, Inc. the next year. Our company specializes in the design and manufacturing of customized mechanical and industrial quality inspection systems. My title is Director of Administrative Services and my duties include all shipping and travel arrangements, marketing and sales, Human Resources, some purchasing, government relations and “other duties as assigned.“ I have been a member of this Rotary Club of Marietta Metro since 1997 and have been involved in many areas of service. It was my honor to serve as President 2009-10 and I am now serving as an Assistant Governor for District 6900. Some of my most special memories have involved traveling internationally for Rotary. I traveled to Guatemala (2000) and Ecuador (2003) on Rotary Discovery Grant Teams and in 2006 I participated in a PolioPlus National Immunization Day in India traveling with a team of twenty from District 6900. It was fun to attend international conventions in Birmingham, England (2009), Montreal (2010) and New Orleans (2011) and I served as the District’s “On to New Orleans”

Chair for the International Convention that year. I was a GRSP Host in 2011-12 for Jonathan Kay from New Zealand, and will host again in 2013-14 for our student from Montserrat, Ajahni Lewis. I served as a member of the District GSE Committee from 2006-2012. I am a member of the Paul Harris Society, multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Will Watt Fellow, and was very honored to be “Rotarian of the Year” in 1998-99 (Thanks, Bob!). In other community activities, I am on the Honorary Commander Advisory Board, a member of Sister Cities, Women of Philanthropy for the WellStar Foundation, a Junior League Sustainer and a docent for the Pilgrimage of Homes. In a past life, I coordinated the building of five houses for Habitat for Humanity. We attend First Baptist Church of Marietta where I am a deacon, serve on the Hospitality Ministry Team and Fellowship Committee and direct weddings occasionally. In 2010, I coordinated the church’s 175th Anniversary Celebration. Lynn Lanier, a consultant with GDS Associates and I have been married for 36 years. We have one daughter, Amanda Lanier Temples, who achieved her doctorate in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State University in 2012 and has accepted a position as Assistant Professor at Michigan State University to begin in August. She and her husband, John, welcomed their first child on January 7, 2011. Life doesn’t get much better than this! I am sorry to say I have never ridden in a limo with a rock star but I have flown in a helicopter a few times and danced in the Closing Ceremony of the ‘96 Olympics. My favorite activities require a passport and suitcase, and being with our family and friends.
