RE: Certification & Academic Scholarships

SHRM SWFL is again pleased to offer several Scholarships.

The Certification scholarships, up to $865.00 each, will be awarded to Human Resource professionals pursuing the Society of Human Resource Management certification and completing all eligibility requirements to sit for the certification exam. Four (4) certification scholarships will be awarded. Two scholarships are to be awarded at the July meeting and two at the December meeting. Applicants for the certification scholarship must be members of the SHRM SWFL chapter. Applications for the July award must be received by May 31st and those for the December award must be submitted no later than September 30th.

The Academic scholarships, in the amount of $1,000.00 each, will be awarded to students in the pursuit of an educational program leading to a degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration with a related Human Resources or Management major. Applicants for the academic scholarship must be a member of the SHRM SWFL chapter. One scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate, and one scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student. Academic scholarship applications must be submitted no later than September 30th annually. Scholarships will be awarded at the December meeting.

Individuals are eligible to receive a maximum of one professional or one academic scholarship during any one particular scholarship cycle/window. Scholarship windows are (1) January - July and (2) August - December. The Association’s Board of Directors reserves the right to change, modify, and/or discontinue administration of this program at its sole discretion. Should this program be discontinued, all remaining funds would be administered as outlined herein until the available balance is exhausted.

SHRM SWFLCertification Scholarships

LETTER OF INTENT

I, , do hereby state and affirm my full intention of upholding all obligations and requirements set forth by the SHRM SWFL and its Scholarship Committee.

As a recipient of a Certification Scholarship, I fully understand that this obligation includes, but is not limited to:

1) Completing all eligibility requirements to sit for the SHRM certification exam and

2) Taking the certification exam concurrent with the award being granted, or within two testing windows of receipt of the award.

I understand that I must sit for the human resource professional certification exam within two testing windows following acknowledgement of this award. Certification Scholarship recipients are formally announced during the July and December Association meetings each year. I also understand that the Scholarship Committee must be notified no later than 60 days following the test date in order for me to receive such funds. All Certification Scholarships awarded but not disbursed, shall be placed back in to the general scholarship account to be used by other recipients.
