The large and sturdy machine base is therobust core of this machining centre. Itcombines rigidity, stability and extremelygood vibration absorption. Onto this, thethree-axis unit is constructed.It is deliberately designed to be solid butnevertheless compact. Generously dimen-sioned linear guides are spaced wide apartin all three axes. 6 ball bearing skates eachin X and Y-axis give the best possible grip.In addition, large diameter high-precisionrecirculating ballscrews are used to trans-mit the drive forces to the axes and themassive but compact travelling slides aredesigned with very short distances be-tween each set of linear guide rails to di-rectly convey the metal cutting forces andensure excellent precision. The arrangement of the motor spindle, in-tegrated at the centre of the Z-slides andsymmetrical with the Y and X-slides, guar-antees a clean, symmetrical flow of force.

The whole construction is generously de-signed , indeed overdimensioned. It en-sures the best stability and precision, evenin the case of rough conditions, through-out a long machine life.

Swiss precision Every machining centre "Made by Mikron Nidau" has beenassembled in our air-conditioned assembly shops by qualifiedpersonnel, measured by means of a laser and submitted toextensive tests before delivery.

Reliable tool changerThe reliable pick-up system with fixed space coding and forced

controlled feed movement is arranged to be both well-protectedand space-saving at the centre of the column. It has simple and

readily accessible loading from the rear.

Where chips flyThe metal chips fall through the spacious opening under the

worktable directly into the scraper chip conveyer. It is designed totransport a large volume of chips. The coolant

pump is integrated into the coolant tank.

Generously dimensionedHigh-precision, widely spaced linear guides in allthree axes, 6 roller-bearing skates each in X and

Y-axes, as well as 4 in the Z-axis give the bestrigidity and robustness.

VCP 800W Duro

A three or four-axis high-performance machining centre. Thanks to the construction with the travel movementsin the tool and a stationary worktable, there are constant mass ratios for the dynamics and acceleration. The VCP800W Duro is suitable for work ranging from powerful roughing to dynamic lining and finishing tasks on freeform surfaces. It is designed to finish large and also heavy workpieces economically.

Worktables adapted to your needs

The massive machine base and the modular construction make the VCP 800W Duro and the VCP 1000 Duro versatile machining centres. They can be perfectly adapted to the most varied production tasks. The massivemounting surfaces on the polymer concrete base make it possible to equip it with various worktables with largeclamping surfaces, solutions based on customer requirements are also possible. As the worktable remains station-ary the machine dynamics are not influenced, even in the case of a high workpiece weight.

Standard table for workpieces up to 1.6 t. It is available in two different lengths: 900mm and1300mm (for VCP 1000 Duro) x 600mm width. These flat tables have 9 T-slots for the secureclamping of workpieces suitable for the large working area.

The lower table option brings 150mm more Z height for optimummachining conditions for large and bulky workpieces, or in connec-tion with a dividing head.

VCP 1000 Duro

A three or four-axis high-performance machining centre. In addition to all the advantages of the VCP 800WDuro, the VCP 1000 Duro has 200mm additional travel in the X axis. Thanks to the longer worktable many alter-native set-ups are possible, such as, double or multiple work-piece clamping, use of dividing heads when workingwith long components and much more.

The dividing heads supplied by Mikron can beset up on any of the flat tables.

Safe and clean

Whether using a perimeter guard or a com-plete machine enclosure, both offer full op-erator convenience: Front sliding doors witha wide opening ensure very good access tothe working area for crane loading and set-up operation. A manually opened windowfor side access to the working area is alsoavailable as an option. Large panes made ofsafety glass as well as the powerful interiorlighting are standard.

Chip conveyers with coolant tanks and pumps are supplied as standard. For morecomplex requirements, internal through spindle coolant or minimum quantity airmist lubrication options are also available.

Automatic tool length and diameter measurement, as well

as a tool geometry check bymeans of a laser or tool probe.

The values are transmitted tothe tool management

independently.

Offers autonomous recording ofthe workpiece zero point and

determining of the location, aswell as workpiece plotting by

means of the set-up probe.

Simultaneous in 5-axis

UCP 800 Duro

A five-axis high-performance machining centre, that is also capable of heavy metal removal. The generously di-mensioned round swivel table is fitted directly on the massive mounting surfaces of the polymer concrete base.Thanks to the construction with the travel movements by the tool and the rotation and swivel axis in the table,there are constant mass ratios for the dynamics and acceleration. The UCP 800 Duro is as well suited for 5-axis simultaneous machining work as it is for 5-sided machining operations. Thanks to its great clamping force on therotation and swivel axis, it is also suitable for heavy 3-axis machining jobs in regulated operations. The roundswivel table is optimally matched to the basic machine from its size, its carrying capacity and its dynamics. Thus 3,4 and even 5-axis machining jobs are possible, from powerful roughing to accurate finishing work on free formsurfaces. The UCP 800 Duro is designed to be able to finish large and heavy workpieces economically.

Swivel range from –100 to +120 enables optimumaccessibility with the tool, especially for operations

such as undercutting.
