The Milwaukee Commu-nity Journal celebrated 43years of feeling the pulseof the city’s Black commu-nity recently by celebratingour future: Teens, Tweens,and Young Adults. This was also the theme

this year by the newspaper,which focused on the is-sues and challenges thatface teens, tweens andyoung adults (TTYA) in so-ciety today. Also recognized were

honorees who work withTTYA’s on a daily basis in-dependently or as part ofcommunity based organi-zations or the faith-basedcommunity. Three teens were

awarded $1,000 each to-wards their back-to-schoolexpenses. They were partof a group of seven in totalwho were nominated by theorganizations they workfor. The Milwaukee Urban

League received $2,000 tostrengthen its youth pro-grams. Last, but not least,scholarship dollars wereawarded to the Dr. TerenceN. Thomas Memorial Schol-arship recipients whodemonstrate their intellec-tual prowess each year asthey continue to retain 3.0GPA’s and model for theirvillage of parents, families,their colleges and universi-ties.
