    Shepherds Note

LIVING BY THE HOLY SPIRITS POWER (a Belated SHAVUOT MESSAGE)

    Psta. Ching Nicolas

How many times have we fallen prey to the trappings and subtleties of the enemy?

How many times do we say no to his deceptive schemings and wily ways? Let us bewarned and alerted to pray for each other against the lion that prowls, seeking whom hemay devour.

Remember we have this new life within us lived according to the Holy Spirit. Theold sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite to what the Holy Spirit wants,

Gal 6:17. On the other hand, the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what thesinful nature desires. Accordingly, these two forces are constantly fighting each other,

and our choices are never free from this conflict.

When we follow the desires of our sinful nature, our lives will produce these evilresults: sexual immorality, impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, idolatry,

participation in demonic activities, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outburst of anger, selfish ambition, divisions, the feeling that everyone is wrong except those in our own

little group, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other kinds of sin.

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us:

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have already nailed the passions and desires of

our sinful nature to the cross of Calvary and crucified them there. If we are living nowby the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit in every part of our lives. As advised by

Paul, let us not become conceited, or irritate one another, or be jealous of one another.

In closing, I would like to share with you a text message sent to me by one of our

brothers, Passionate love for Yahshuah and genuine compassion for people fuel thefurnace in our heart that will set ablaze the fire that consumes every prideful and selfish

    motive in us.

BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!

One of the ministries GNWOM has been supporting was the Street Dwellers under Bro. Jojo Tejano who has

since relocated to Davao City to teach and head an advocacy group. One of the key personages during Street

Dwellers was Alfredo Kuya Iddo Olavidez who shares with us the ministry which still goes on in Cubao with

still Bro. Nonie Samonte in the midst of the activitiesa:Dear Praying friends:

    Thanks for praying.

I thought you would be interested to know how and what we purchased with the money on hand. We normallywould not shop on Sundays but on Monday, 3 June 2013 classes were supposed to start so we should have theitems on hand.

I received additional funds but was still short of our budget. But praise the Lord we, indeed, were able to buy 17

sets of school uniforms, 17 pairs of shoes, and enough school supplies with the funds we received.

This is the miracle I was asking the Lord to do for us: to be able to buy what we need with the available amount,

    and He did.

We went to Divisoria. You know that we could get items not much less in quality but almost half the price of

goods bought from malls and big department stores.

However, thousands of people pluck to this place because more items can be purchased for less cost and big

crowd usually attracts bad elements. Pick pocketing and bag slashing and the likes abound. There were

occasions too when you paid for five (5) pairs of shoes only to find out later that what were wrapped were four(4) or three (3) pairs only. You would hear arguments between shopper and stall keeper about whether the latter

has already handed the amount for the items bought or not. Shoppers should be alert to avoid this negative side

    of the place.

We did not encounter any of the above but we had this one: a stall keeper totaled our purchases to be PhP1,700which Nonie thought was too high. Nonie checked the addition. He came up with a sum of PhP930 only.

Thanks to Nonie alertness. We could have paid more than what we should. We do not know though whether itwas intentional or a simple honest mistake on the part of the stall keeper. We are thanking the Lord for keeping

us away from something like this.

I hate to write about this but want to point out how God has spared us from any of these unpleasant possibilities.

Unfortunately, the memory card of my camera was corrupted thus all the pictures I took were erased includingthose I haven't transferred to my computer. Nonie took some pictures too so I have to download copies from his

cellphone so I could send them to donors and friends who said they prayed for this particular project.

Monday afternoon, we met with the children to distribute what we bought for them. First day of classes usually

are not yet orderly so they may come to school not wearing their uniforms and with pencils, ball pens and a few

pieces of papers only. I took pictures and they were corrupted, too.

Thanks for praying. We will send pictures from Nonie's cellphone. We will also keep you posted about further

developments in our "Shower and Breakfast in a Cart" project.
