OPPORTUNITIES TO JOINWith over hundreds of Packs, Troops, Crews, and Posts in 24 counties, the council keeps the opportunity to join Scouting available to any youth who wants to be a Scout. Volunteers and staff work together to start new units in areas in need of Scouting, and our recruitment efforts ensure that every family has a chance to join. Help us get kids in Scouting and keep them in Scouting!

FUTURE LEADERSScouting builds character. Scouting is a valuable program not only for today’s youth, but for instilling values in future generations of citizens. Service projects, team activities, and individual persistence are tools we use as we teach youth to be “physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.” The council organizes many large activities each year including training courses and events where youth gain leadership experience.

OUTDOOR PROGRAMThe council empowers thousands volunteers to implement and grow Scouting. The training programs for volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America are unparalleled in teaching outdoor skills, ethical decision making, and leadership techniques. The council provides six camp properties with over 10,000 acres available for camping. Outdoor experiences are critical for implementing the Scouting program, and Scouts in the Last Frontier Council are fortunate to have such diverse areas to camp at low cost.

ALL COMMUNITIES NEED SCOUTINGScouting serves every demographic and every community, regardless of ability to pay or ability of parents to be involved.

Scouting is a cost-effective activity for youth, and while many families find it affordable, the Last Frontier Council will deny no youth from the Scouting program due to lack of funds. We offer direct assistance to every community we serve:

Membership Fee Assistance: The Boy Scouts of America annual registration fee is $65 plus insurance. The Last Frontier Council will pay for a portion or all of a youth’s membership fee based on need.

Camperships: Camp fees are affordable for many families, but the council offers need-based financial aid for those who need extra assistance. Camperships are promoted in all camp guides and promotional materials.

Uniforms: The uniform is a method we use so that membership in the organization can be easily recognized. The council provides Scouting shirts and uniform items to youth who could otherwise not afford them.

Supplies & Services: The council provides many supplies at no cost to many members, including recruitment flyers, badges of rank, fund raising materials, and forms. We also maintain two service centers, staff, and free basic leader training.

Outreach Units: When parent and volunteer involvement is low or absent, we run Scouting units after school. The council hires part-time program aides to run meetings and organize activities at school to adapt to limits on transportation and ability of parents to attend.
