CLARK FORK VALLEY CHAPTER NWTF BANQUET/FUNDRAISER
CLARK FORK VALLEY CHAPTER SUPPORTERS GOBBLES DOWN THE PRIME RIB
By Raf Viniard
Last Saturday night at the Sanders County Fairgrounds pavilion, the Clark Fork Valley NWTF Chapter held their 15th
Annual banquet/fundraiser. As soon as you walked in the door it sounded like a bunch of cackling hens as everyone
was having fun, catching up with old friends and hoping to win at least one of the fourteen guns to be had.
Kids darted here and there, “Jakes” as they are called in the NWTF. What was really noticeable was the smell of
prime rib waffling through the air and in the background you could see the Plains Women’s Club volunteers busy as
bees getting ready to serve their guests. The prime rib as always was just spectacular as the ladies that prepared
and served it. For those not so keen on beef , chicken was served and from what I heard is was moist and tender
and full of flavor...looks like the turkey got a break during this meal.
During the evening social and the event itself ,the Cowgirls Kickin Cancer volunteers were busy keeping the guest
palates wet with beverages. Service from these ladies was as good as their smiles. With smiles like that how could
we not put them on the cover of this fine publication. Both the Cowgirls Kickin Cancer and the Plains Women Club
are regular supporters of this event and use this opportunity to raise money for their respective causes. These ladies
support and represent Sanders County and Montana proudly. A tip of the hat goes out to these ladies for a fine job!
After the meal was over it didn’t take long for things to heat up from raffles to auctions. Travis Jeppesen the
auctioneer and Jason Tarwater the NWTF Regional Director worked the crowd to get them to open their wallets.
Matt Cockrell buzzed back and forth between gun winners collecting information to make the transfer go smooth.
Matt the owner of MC Gunsmithing, Plains, MT was in charge of handling all the guns and the transfer of firearms to
their new owners. Mangy Moose handled all the paperwork for the pistols.
NWTF recognized all veterans and presented each of them with a lapel pin and gave away a $20.00 Sportsman’s
Warehouse gift certificate to the lucky winner of the veterans drawing. Winner was: Raf Vinard, yes I even won
something and it will be put to good use getting ready for turkey season.
There are always one or two tables that just seem to have the lucky horseshoe, and this night was no exception. I
could go on and on about this person or that person, but I think pictures are better. Keep flipping and see who you
recognize. With approximately 100 NWTF supporters, you are bound to recognize someone you know.

The Knock Out Game
Participants that had bought certain
auction items earned a place in the
lineup see who the last person standing
would win the gun. The loser of each
round draws a poker chip from the
bucket to knock out the next person. It
was a dog eat dog event. Family
member against family member, friend
against friend. Nothing is fair in love
and war and especially when it comes
to winning a gun!

Roll The Dice - Mike Jenson of Thompson Falls donated two Mossberg, Model 88, 20 gauge shotguns to be given
away to a young Jake/Gobbler & Hen. Mike said, I figured this would keep the kids involved in something other
than something else they don’t need to be.” The kids rolled the dice twice to see who got the highest number in
the combination of two rolls. Recognize any of these kids? Keep flipping and we will show you who won!

After the event there is always a lot do in returning the building back to the way you found it. As the flock
departed the building with their winnings and memories there are some unsung hero's we need to recognize. The
Southside Sparks 4H Shooting Team volunteered to stay late and cleanup. During the auction the winner of the
bid could bump their bid in $10.00 increments to help support the 4H Shooting Team. Pictured Front left: Martin

Donna & Doug Chase owners of the non-profit organization Magazines For Troops (MFT) is based out of Lakeside,
MT. MFT was started in their home by adopting a soldier serving in the middle east. Word soon spread of their
effort to send magazines to our men and women serving on remote assignments. At the peak of the war they were
serving over 270 military units shipping thousands of boxes of magazines. There are about 40 magazines in a box
and cost $12.65 to ship one box. Donna said, “We don’t have a shortage of used magazines but we constantly
struggle to have the money to ship them.” MFT needs your financial support to continue this patriotic undertaking.
Go to their website and make a donation just to send one box a month for our troops. Montana Woods N Water
donated leftover publications. Donate today! To learn more, call Donna at 406-844-2474.
