«Moon Marble» is a unique type of facing brick

made from a mixture of natural stone travertine

and a high end cementing component.

Long before the Christian era, travertine was a

popular construction material with the creators of

Ancient Greek and Roman architecture. The

Romans used it in a variety of projects and

constructions: they relied on it to erect residential

buildings and religious temples, bridge aqueducts

and publ ic baths , s ta i rways , s teps , and

amphitheatres. To name just one famous example,

almost the whole of the Colosseum was built with

travertine. Since the main component of «Moon

Marble» can obviously stand the test of time, it is

safe to say that «Moon Marble» is a universal facing

material that can be used in decorative nish of

both facades and interiors.

A diverse range of «Moon Marble» products

is manufactured by a brick-making plant in

Turkey. The history of this plant goes as far back as

2001, when Lutugino-based brickworks factory

«LITOS» TM turned out its rst facing brick, and set

in operation its own raw materials source on the

basis of Georgiiievsky shell limestone quarry,

supplying «LITOS» with the main component for

production of its bricks. Later, the production

facilities were re-tted, as well as equipped with

automated l ines produced in-house by

machinery plant «STANDARD», part of «LITOS»

group. At the same time, Lutugino brickworks

factory «LZSM» Ltd brought together a team of

enthusiastic professionals, and in 2010 the

factory boasted production of 360 different brick

types in 8 colors. The range included standard,

narrow, thin, and shaped bricks, as well as plinth

tiles. That year was marked by production of over

70 million brick items. Since then, «LITOS» TM has

been searching for new ideas and technologies

to make its bricks last through millennia, and

analyzing architectural trends dening different

epochs. Inspired to explore a new area in

manufacturing, «LITOS» TM researched a

multitude of available raw materials, their

properties and evolution, and in 2012 founded

another brick-making plant in Turkey, a plant to

specialize in producing the new «Moon Marble»

range.

With its focus on science-based manufacturing

and eleven-year-long reliance on its own

innovative technological solutions in

hyperpressing, as well as usage of natural

components and self-produced equipment,

«LITOS» TM has succeeded in creating a brand

new, unsurpassed type of facing brick with 90%

m i r r o r s u r f a c e a n d s u p e r b t e c h n i c a l

characteristics:

Compressive strength М350;

Frost resistance F300;

Waterabsorption 2-4%;

«Moon Marble» bricks are manufactured in 4

product groups differing in dimensions: standard

brick, narrow brick, thin tile, and plinth tile. These

are available in 5 textures: «Crystal», «Rocco»,

«Moon Marble», «Tumbled», and «Rock». Equipped

with a variety of facing brick textures, the designer

can materialize the most revolutionary ideas in

architecture.

«Crystal» texture resembles the high nish of

marble, creating the effect of a mirror with its

ideal reecting surface, when used in brickwork.

Reectivity of the surface texture of the brick with

up to 90% .

«Rocco» texture playfully combines two

different effects: high nish and roughness-. The

result is «antiquated luxury» that looks captivating

on the sunny side of any facade.

«Moon Marble» texture has a mirror-like

marble surface nibbled to resemble «lunar relief».

It goes perfectly in tune with modern trends in

interior design.

«Rock» texture is rough, with embossed

surface stylized to look like a natural stone.

«Tumbled» texture is less rough than «Rock»,

and the contrast between sunk and raised areas

is not as pronounced.
