    Darjeeling himalayan railways

    Also famous as toy train.

    Oldest mountain railway , started its services

    in 1881. Route is from Siliguri to Darjeeling.

    This travel includes 17 stations and 15 halta in

    between. UNESCO tagged this railways as world heritage

    site in the year 1999.

    Two division of classes inside the train:

    Class A and class B.

    6 loops between the journey. 2 loops are very famous:

    Batasia loop.

    UNESCO tagged this railways as world heritage

    site in the year 2008.

    Started its services in 1898. 103 tunnels in between the journey, longest is

    Barog tunnel which is more than 1 Km.

    864 bridges in between. Most expensive track among these 5 track.

    Journey properly in between western ghat hill.

    Journey of 20 Kms.

    Major pull factor of this railways is scenic

    beauty, unpolluted air, shady long trees.

    Carrying capacity of the train is 10 travellers.

    Max. speed of the train is 12 mile that is 20

    Kms.

    NILGIRI MOUNTAIN RAILWAYS

    This railways started services in 1908.

    Tagged as world heritage site in the year 2005

    by UNESCO. Journey is between Mettupalayam and ooty.

    Journey of 42 Kms which includes 250 bridges

    and 16 tunnels. Takes nearly 5 hours to complete the journey.

    The line uses the Abt rack and pinion system

    to climb the steep gradient.

    Train can run upto the speed of 33 km/hr. Track is going through small hills, tea gardens,

    green lands etc.

    KHAJURAHO TEMPLES

    Located in Chatharpur district of Madhya

    Pradesh.

    The Khajuraho temples are made ofsandstone.

    This group of temples are considered as one

    of the seven wonders of India.

    All sculptures and carvings shows the culture

    of India at that time.

    The Khajuraho temples were built over a spanof 200 years, from 950 to 1150.

    The whole area was enclosed by a wall with

    eight gates.

    Area of about 20 square kilometres.

    The temples serve as fine examples of Indian

    architectural styles. Temple gained more popularity becoz of

    carvings having sexual themes.

    musicians, potters, farmers, and other folk.

    The temples are grouped into threegeographical divisions : western, eastern and

    southern.
