In todays world, it is apparent business has become more global, but the debate remainsto what extent globalization takes place across production and markets. Arguably, a companymay need a foreign policy considering events such as the takeover of Crimea, Russian threat toUkraine, British exit from the European Union, extreme fluctuation of political views, continuousfinancial crisis in Greece, the rising barriers to trade, prolonged stagnation, rise of populism, theEuropean socio-political and economic crisis or the expansion of China in South East China. Thispaper attempts to research different issues of the geopolitical environment a multinational corpo-ration (MNC) addressing today. It is in the interest of a MNC and its managers to understandthe complexity of the international geopolitical arena and to have the foresight to comprehend theimplications and influences of events on the business continuum. A conceptual model is guidingthe development of key elements but also future research. Moreover, the research is attempting tocoalesce the strategic posture of the global business as they relate to geopolitical issues.

This paper investigates the effect of liquidity on the ex-dividend day price premium. It iswell documented that prices drop less than the dividend amount on the ex-day; this market ineffi-ciency is generally attributed to the tax-induced clientele effect and various structural frictions. Ishow that, even in a tax-free market where the usual microstructure impediments are absent, ab-normal returns persist. Using a new measure of liquidity, I find that liquidity is economically andstatistically significant in the determination of the ex-dividend day price anomaly, indicating thattrading restrictions can partially explain the ex-dividend return puzzle.

This agricultural study identified and described the agricultural beliefs and practices of Ilo-canos in Ilagan City, Isabela. The researcher being participant- observers procure data in a typicalsetting using interview, documentary analysis, observation and immersion. The Ilocano farmersfrom Villa Imelda and Cabesera 14-16, Ilagan City, Isabela served as the main informants as to theiragricultural beliefs and practices and their endowment towards maintainable. A review of docu-mentary materials and readings was done to enrich the researcher knowledge of cultures, systemsand practices of the respondents. The objectives of this study is to identify and acknowledge thesignificance of their beliefs and practices entirely their agricultural process. This research also isone way to open the message in society the beliefs and practices of Ilocano farmers that even tech-nology nowadays are highly opened to society still their beliefs and practices will continue as partof their culture. Their beliefs and practices such as Thanksgiving first prior to the farming processbegins, Cutting hair, Borrowed things in planting, Playing trompo, etc.. will continue throughouttheir survival in everyday life. The Ilocano farmers of Ilagan City, Isabela have evidently demon-strated a strong sense of ownership and pride for these agricultural beliefs and practices due theirtime-tested effectiveness and sustainability. It is highly recommended that the aforementioned be-liefs and practices be shared and passed on, thus, paving the way to the regeneration of agriculturalbeliefs and practices.

An abnormal gait pattern changes the bones and muscles structurally. Regular gait mon-itoring and correction are needed to improve an abnormal gait pattern. In this paper, we proposea footwear system for gait pattern improvement in daily life. The proposed system measures gaitpattern by using a force sensitive resistor (FSR) sensor and inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensorand visualizes the measured gait pattern on a smartphone screen in real time. The proposed systemprovides users with an opportunity to continuously monitor and correct their gait pattern by usinga smartphone, which has high accessibility in daily life.

Human gene therapy is best known as a transfer of nucleic acids to either the somatic cells orgerm cells of an individual. It introduces genetic materials which have therapeutic purpose rang-ing from inherited genetic disorders to certain malignancies and infectious diseases. This medicalscientific breakthrough has received lucrative demand worldwide as it offers potential treatment tocure genetic diseases in human at the molecular level. Since then, thousands of people have al-ready participated in the trials thus it is likely to be part of medical practice in the future. Despite ofthe tremendous benefits that it promises, this new biomedical technology has given rise to severalcontentious issues from the ethical and religious point of view. Since it comprises of two differenttherapies namely somatic and germ line gene therapy, each involves different procedures therebyposes different legal ruling and decision. This study attempts to propose a complementary modelof the Shariah framework on the human gene therapy with special reference to the somatic genetherapy. This proposed framework is designed and developed to fulfil the lacuna of the ShariahFramework on the application of the somatic gene therapy after an in depth study of its positionfrom the Shariah point of view. In achieving this, a detailed analysis and outlook into the Quranicevidences along with the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh were carried out. Following this,its position from the pragmatic approach of the Maqasid al-Syariyyah (Objective of the Shariah)and the Qawaid Fiqhiyyah (Islamic Legal Maxims) is also analysed in further detail. Various fat-was (Islamic verdict) decreed by the variety of fatwa councils from all over the world are alsohighlighted. This model of Shariah Framework would serve as the ethical basis for the applicationof somatic gene therapy in Malaysia and beyond (particularly Muslim countries) especially forMuslim doctors, scientists and Muslims at large. For Muslim countries such as Malaysia whereMuslims makes the majority of the population and Islam as the official religion in Article 3 of itsFederal Constitution, this framework is deemed to be important reference in providing the essen-tial guidelines on the permissibility of this therapy. Consideration of the position of Somatic GeneTherapy from the Shariah perspective is undeniably crucial in any attempt to regulate SomaticGene Therapy in any Muslim countries in the future.
