TERM 1 WEEK 2 Wednesday 6th February 2019

MSPS School Sport days Sports will be held on the following days. Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) - Thursday Stage 1 – Friday Stage 2 – Wednesdays Stage 3 – Wednesdays Students can wear the school sports uniform (Maroon shorts/pants, maroon polo shirt, school bucket hat & white or black joggers) on these days. This is in addition to the PE lesson that Mr Adams holds with classes. Classroom teachers will advise students what days they will have Mr Adams for PE in which it may be best for girls to wear sports uniform instead of school dress on this day also. Student details & emergency contacts It is important that you notify the school office of changes that occur to student’s contact details e.g. new phone numbers, change of address etc. Emergency contact details also need to be kept up-to-date with current working phone numbers. It is important to have details up-to-date as this information is sometimes needed by teachers, to approve transport applications and in the event of an emergency. Please contact the school office to make any updates. Thank you for your cooperation. PUBLICTY & GENERAL CONSENT PERMISSION FORMS

Publicity & General consent forms were filled out at the beginning of last year and when new enrolments commence at Muswellbrook South Public School. When these forms are completed, parents/carers answer if they give or do not give consent to publicity such as student’s photographs being included in school newsletters, on the school Facebook page, local newspapers, Department of Education Internet pages, television, radio, taken on school photo day and to be published out in the community. There is no need for this form to be completed each year. Completed forms are kept in the student’s file. If a form has not been completed a new one will be sent home in the coming weeks. Please complete this and send back to school at your earliest convenience. If you have completed a publicity consent form but now/later wish to make changes, please notify the school in writing so we can adjust our records accordingly. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS Our school newsletter is published weekly and can be found on our school website https://muswellbrs-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/newsletter.html as well as being sent out on the Muswellbrook South Public School Skoolbag app. Our preferred method of distribution is by email as it reduces printing costs and is guaranteed to be received. It can also be printed if you prefer. Please let the office know if you would like to receive a printed copy of the school newsletter.

Muswellbrook South Public School will be welcoming Healthy Harold and the Life Education Van in Weeks 3 &

4 of this term. Healthy Harold delivers programs for students in Kindergarten through to Year 6. These

programs are designed to empower children to make safe and healthy lifestyle choices now and into their

futures.

Our students attend these invaluable learning sessions free of charge thanks to the generous assistance of BHP Arthur Coal and our school.

Thank you BHP.

Once a month on a Thursday afternoon, Stage 3 Aboriginal girls will be participating in our schools Sista Speak program. This program empowers our girls to be strong and smart powerful women in our community. Mrs Kelman will be their mentor and this program will be engaging our girls all term. Throughout the term, Mrs Kelman will put up some photos and girls work on our schools Facebook page of the experiences throughout the Term. Muswellbrook South Public School is looking forward to engage this program and continue to value Aboriginal culture.

TERM 1 WEEK 2 Wednesday 6th February 2019

ATSI Personalised Learning Plans (PLP’s) A PLP is a Personalised Learning Plan. Personalised learning recognizes the individual strengths, needs and goals of students and help the school respond to each individual’s needs and learning. Mrs Kelman has sent PLP’s home with students this week and we encourage parents to complete them and send back to classroom teachers. If parents have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact the school and talk to Mrs Kelman. Parking at United Petrol Station Just a reminder to parents and families dropping or picking up students, or visiting the school at any time, please do not park in surrounding businesses carparks (United Service Station, Osborn Bus Company, Beaurepaires) as it obstructs access for their customers and suppliers and can be a safety concern. MSPS families can park in the TAFE carpark next door to the school and walk children into the school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Road Safety For the safety of students and adults, please make sure road rules are followed at all times. Speed limits must be adhered to around surrounding streets as well as in the TAFE carpark. Please keep an eye out for pedestrians walking through the TAFE carpark and crossing at traffic lights. Children under the age of 10 must hold a parents hand when crossing roads. At no time should pedestrians walk through the staff carpark or driveway gates. Please use walkways and gates. Thank you for your cooperation.

You can open an account for your child in one of two ways: 1. Online Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account. 2. In branch Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate. If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet. School Banking day is Tuesday. Each week your child needs to bring their deposit book, filled out with the correct money, into the school office by 9.30am.

money.

Get Started: 1. Download the CommBank Youth app on any iOS

you need to know.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TOKENS • One silver Dollarmites token will be issued for

every School Banking deposit made (maximum of one per week).

• All rewards are available to order from the term listed and are offered only while stocks last.

• Your deposit/token count is electronically tracked by School Banking so it doesn’t matter if you lose your Silver Dollarmites tokens.

• You can also track your tokens on our new, fun, easy to use CommBank Youth App (visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking for more details).

• If you forget to put your School Banking in one week, you are unable to make 2 deposits the following week for 2 tokens. Maximum of one deposit/one token per week.
