    UMK sent a contingentto MTE 2013, submit-ting 8 product duringthe Malaysian Technol-ogy Expo (MTE) held at

    the Putra World TradeCentre from the 21st to23rd February, withFIAT submitting oneinvention. Projectleader for the Hm breed-ing Chamber for com-mercial upscalling ofleeches, Mr. ZulhisyamAbdul Kari @ accompa-nied by the Dean, Prof.

    Ahmad Anwar Ismailwho is also co-inventormanage to grab abronze during the 3 dayexhibition. Overall, the

    university obtained 4silver and 2 bronze. Thiswas the first time UMKparticipated in MTE,shows how research atUMK can be on par withthe other well estab-lished institution. This isalso a good start forFIAT for the year 2013.

    FIAT participated in theBio-Kelantan Interna-tional Carnival 2013(BIO-K) and set upbooth to promote thefaculty. The theme for

    On the 27th January,Mr. Shaiful Azman Ab-dul Rahman attended aruminant feed process-ing workshop organizedby Kelantan BiotechCorp. Sdn. Bhd. Theworkshop seminar washeld at the Rural Trans-formation Center, Tun-jong, Kota Bharu.

    The 1st (South East Asia Animal Science Student Networking) (SEAASS-Net was held at UiTM Perlis on the 30th January was participated by stu-dents from Indonesia; Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Jambi University(Unja), Lampung University (Unila), and Jenderal Soedirman University(Unsoed). Malaysia was represented by students form Universiti MalaysiaKelantan (UMK), Universiti Technology MARA (UiTM) Perlis, Universiti Ma-laysia Sabah (UMS), and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). A seminar wasalso held on the same day where 8 papers were presented. FIAT MSc stu-dent, Dr. Adnan Ismail presented a paper entitled Evaluation of Perform-ance Potential in Kedah Kelantan (KK) Cattle (Bos indicus) In Tanah MerahNucleus Herd . The Next annual meeting will be hosted by UMS.
