The Higher Education and General Education Departments of the Government of Kerala had jointly launched the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) as part of the State Skill Development Mission to enhance the employability of students passing out of Higher Secondary Schools (+2) as well as Arts and Science Colleges in the State. Commenting on the new partnership, Mr. Chenoy noted, “Kerala, traditionally known for its high quality manpower spread all over the world and strong traditional skill sets, leads the country on many development indices. The realization that the state has a rich talent pool has made us come together and plan this initiative to develop and train employable skills in the youth of Kerala. The ASAP team, targeted at college and school persons, shows tremendous potential and we hope it will set benchmarks for the rest of the country.“

Dr. Abraham, speaking on this association mentioned, “Sectors like healthcare, plumbing, capital goods and media & entertainment have a huge opportunity for a skilled labour force and Sector Skill Councils certainly provide the much needed standardization of courses, outcome-based third-party assessment and industry-approved certification. ASAP’s partnership with the NSDC has encouraged us to speed up our activities on the ground and we look forward to work with NSDC in the coming months and years to strengthen the hands of the youth in Kerala.”
