chse graham greene as his inspiratin.

In 1935 at the age of 30 Greene deliberately risked his life on a

trip by rail, truck and then ft in these 2 cuntries, takin with

him 26 bearers, a case f sctch, vast supplies f Eurpean

fd, and hammcks in which he and his travellin cmpanin, a

female cusin, were smetimes carried. Fever almst killed greene n this adventure

f life-chanin imprtance which was later immrtalised in his cntrversial travel

classic, Jurney Withut Maps.

By cntrast Tim travelled very liht, accmpanied by the sn f a friend, and livin

ff fd buht in remte villaes as he went aln. In the curse f his jurney
