Center for Non-Profit Leadership
Dena Jenson
Jennifer Strong introduced Dena Jenson, Director of the Center for Non
-Profit Leadership at CLU. Dena reflected the goal of the Center stated
on its website: “Since our founding, we've provided training, technical
assistance, and access to research materials that reflects its name,
strengthening the leadership of nonprofit organizations throughout
Ventura County.“ She noted that now that CLU has adopted the Cen-
ter, its mission was even more achievable.
Dena stressed how important non-profit organizations are to the fabric
of the community, and how essential it was that they receive the assis-
tance to develop not only the leaders and staff but also the volunteers.
She described the many levels of support they offer, including coaching,
workshops, and courses. Among their special programs she described
the importance of these three: The Board Leadership Institute, the
Nonprofit Resiliency Insitute, and the Nonprofit Leadership Council.
The Center’s resources serving the non-profits are volunteers as well,
she stated, making the contributions enriched not only by the generosi-
ty of the professionals who served, but also by their proficiency and
accomplished expertise.
