Tuesday 20 October - Welcome to term 4! Things have certainly been busy around here: The Event Management Hapori Awhina team ran a disco the second last week of last term and did a fabulous job – thanks to Mariana for the lights! It was fantastic to see all the kids get into the spirit of it – dressing up and all joining in on the dancing and the action! In the last week of term we had the Education Review Office (ERO) in the school. Their job is to review everything the school does that contributes to the learning and achievement of our students. We received great feedback and while being under scrutiny is never a treat, the week went really smoothly – they enjoyed our students and were complimentary of our staff which is lovely. We have received the unconfirmed report and will share the final report with you once it is finalised. Upcoming dates: Monday 26 October – Labour Day Friday 30 October – Putangitangi Friday 6 November- Teacher Only Day (no school for kids) Thursday 10 December – Last day for the year. Whanau BBQ and art exhibition – put this in your diary!! Congratulations to Kaiah Foggo – our winner of the Invercargill North Rotary Youth Merit Award This was awarded to Kaiah on Thursday 24 September at a dinner awards ceremony- it is awarded to a student who is striving to achieve, displays honesty, trustworthiness, resilience and has won the respect of their peers. She is a leader who has a positive attitude, is keen to participate in everything, has a great working relationship with adults and also her peers. While Rachel is off this term we have Juliette Lyon in Weka who has settled right in – Yay BANNOCKBURN YEAR 6-8 CAMP A fantastic time was had by all on camp in Bannockburn last week – we were incredibly lucky with the weather and the positivity of all the kids was just phenomenal.
