Brian and our parents!

On Saturday 15th

September we celebrated our 21st Birthday. Although hours are spent at the pool, holding the

party at the pool didn’t dampen the party mood.

The fun run saw plenty of action and some amazing contortions of the human body, as

did the Tarzan rope! Several parents took to the water for some fierce racing (Organizers

were given a few scares. CPR knowledge was suddenly of high priority). Pizza & Cake

went down well with some black mouthed swimmers from

the Orange & Black Cup Cakes! Sharon Kreslin, ex-

swimming parent and South Coast friend, made the most

amazing cake; a replica of the Club shirt. It was almost a pity

to eat it. It was amazing!

South Coast has had a proud and successful history since 1991. Many of our

swimmers have been holders of State and National Titles and Records and looks

forward to the future and hopes to continue its success at State, National and

International levels in Pool, Lifesaving and Open Water.

HAPPY 21ST

BIRTHDAY SOUTH COAST!!

The final sessions of the Short Course Championships were completed on Sunday 26th August. The

Championships concluded with the Club Team Relays on Sunday night. This year we had a huge team of 36

swimmers attend the meet over the 2 weekends. Congratulations to all our swimmers on their performances. A

massive 86% of our attending swimmers achieved PBs with 11 Club Records broken, medals in Age, Open and

Relay events. Assistant Coach Brian got into the mood of the Relays night and graced us with his African

Drum playing; throughout the evening!!

Congratulations to everyone on a great meet and well

done;

Well done also to Gabriela Duncan, Deannah Haddy, Angas Mackay, Siobhan Nurmi, Tomas Parker and

night by many of the above mentioned swimmers along with Harvey Clarke, Rebecca Field, Isaac Freeman,

Jamie Hole, Lois Naylor, Shannon Warrick and Josh Wheeler.

The 5 month transition period to align all States to the same Registration date ended Sunday 30th

September.

Full year registrations are now due from Monday 1st October. SwimmingSA Registration and Club Membership

are now open through the “Members Portal” on both our website and SwimmingSA’s.

If you have any problems with registrations email the Club [email protected] or ring Aileen

Mader on 0403 354 855 for assistance.

October 2012 is being transformed into EnergyAustralia GO Swim Month. This national campaign is aimed at promoting swimming through registered Energy Australia GO Swim Centers.

An Energy Australia GO Swim Day is an introduction to a local swim club or a chance for existing members to get together and celebrate everything they love about swimming and their club. South Coast is pleased to be a part of the Energy Australia GO Swim Month. On Friday 6th of October we are holding our Energy Australia GO Swim Day.

We will be having our Time Trials as normal with a few fun events, time permitting.

Invite friends from school or other sports you are involved in, so come along and have a GO Swim.

A few jobs have become vacant since the AGM.

Fees Officer: We are looking for someone to fill this position with some

knowledge of Microsoft Excel or maybe you have a better system for

recording receipt of coaching fees etc. You may have to report some statistical

information to the Committee on a few occasions.

Newsletter Editor: Computer knowledge, wit & the ability to have eyes &

ears open for any news that is around the Club.

Neither job requires attendance at Committee meeting unless they wish to. If you can help, please email Aileen

Mader [email protected]

Hoodies:

As many would know, we are getting “Hoodies”. The design was chosen by a

large majority vote from all members. The results were close for the colour of

the “name”, the orange name won by a small margin.

Hopefully they will arrive in time for some use before the warm weather sets in!

Swim Caps:

A competition was held to design a new Club cap. The entrants that submitted

designs did a lot of work on their designs with not one but several ideas entered.

Thank you and well done to Katherine Hudson, Josie Hudson, Nicole Mader,

Joshua Whitehead and Rachael Mader for your ideas.

A design was selected by the Committee and the winning cap was designed by Nicole

Mader (Aileen Mader, parent of 2 entrants and committee member withdrew from

voting). Nicole won $50 for her efforts and a “Top Star” Cap for all entrants.

The new cap is currently being set up and orders for “named” caps will be called for

shortly at a cost of approximately $16 (minimum of 2 to be ordered)

Club Shirts, Club Towels, Goggles, Kickboards, Snorkels & Pullbouys are all currently in stock and

available for purchase on pool deck.

The summer season started on Saturday 22nd

September with the 2 day, 3 sessions All In Meet.

South Coast competed with a team of 20 swimmers entered but due to sickness and injury Sydney McCurrach,

Thomas Davie and Kizzy Grice could not compete. Thomas came to support his fellow team mates and a big

thank you to his mom, Karen Davie, for still turning up for her officiating commitment.

Unfortunately Courtney Bristow had trouble with an injury during the meet and did

not compete in all her events and again a big thank you to Courtney’s mom, Anne

Bristow, for also tuning up for officiating duties even with no swimmer attending.

South Coast boys out did the girls (first time in years!!) and finished 2nd

behind

Marion in the points score. Overall, South Coast finished in 3rd

place behind Marion

and by only 70 points behind Norwood.

Many Club Records were set (achieved at least a Tier 4 JX time) or broken during the

meet with a staggering 11 new records. Talon Copley set 5 and broke 2, Ryan Emms

broke 1 and Tomas Parker broke 1. Well done boys and congratulations.

Great work Courtney Bristow, Karla Brown, Harvey Clarke, Tiffany Copley, Oscar Deverson, Nicole Mader,

Rachael Mader, Liam Parker, Tahlia Richards, Amber Smith Lachlan Wilson, Kellie Wise, Bronwyn

Wolfaardt and Damian Wolfaardt. Some awesome swimming with, for the younger swimmers, many JX

times, Division 1 and State Championship times already. Many PBs were achieved with 83% of times being

PB’s. To our parents that officiated (10 officials were required during the meet!) and Team Manager, a big

THANK YOU!!

Well done everyone.

A special “Thank You” Scott Deverson for your newsletters over the past swim year and

goodbye Phantom. We will miss the Phantom’s escapades!
