PE KITS Can all parents ensure that their child has a PE kit in school. You should receive a newsletter from your child’s teacher explaining which days PE takes place but it is easier just to leave PE kit in school (ideally named in a recognisable bag). ROAD SAFETY Please could we ask all parents to remind their children about the importance of road safety. Unfortunately there was an accident involving a child from Phoenix School earlier this week. Thankfully, the child involved was not seriously injured but, as the evenings start to get darker, there is a greater likelihood of accidents. In a few weeks’ time, there will be a Road Safety workshop for the older children as they are more likely to be walking home alone. ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY Last week’s attendance prize was won by Robins class with 100% attendance. They won extra playtime.
Attendance % No. of Lates Penguins 97.3% 0 Pelicans 98.0% 0 Parrots 98.6% 2 Robins 99.7% 1 Ravens 96.0% 3 Flamingoes 97.3% 1 Eagles 97.1% 0 As you know, every term we hold a prize draw for all children whose attendance is 98% or greater. This time, the prize will be a family ticket to the Rare Breeds Center worth at least £100. SWIMMING Currently, Year 5 and 6 have swimming lessons on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. After Christmas, it will be Year 3 and 4. Towards the end of the year it will be Year 2 children. I would like to reiterate that, for this year, swimming is free. We can do this as we have extra funding but we cannot make the promise that it will be free next year.
PANTO Tickets for our visit to the Christmas Pantomine at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury are still available. If you would like your child to come, then please speak either Mrs Davis or Mrs Archer at the school office. This trip is only open to children in Key Stage 2.

UNIVERSAL FREE SCHOOL MEALS You may already be aware that children in Key Stage 1 are now entitled to a free school meal regardless of whether or not parents claim any benefits. If you would like any further information about this, then please speak to Mrs Davies in the school office. DANCE PERFORMANCE Next week, on Tuesday, some of our Year 3, 4 and 5 children will be in a dance performance at St Mary’s Church in the town centre. Year 3, 4 and 5 will be going to watch the performance. They will leave school ready for the performance to start at 2pm. We are aiming to be back at school by 3.30pm. You would have already signed a permission slip allowing your children to go, but if you would not like your child to attend this event, then please let the school office know. MISSING SCOOTER On Tuesday, a ‘Hello Kitty’ scooter was taken from the school and a different pink scooter was left behind. It is fantastic to see so many children coming to school on their scooters and bikes, but please could we make sure that children are coming home on the correct scooters. If your child has accidently taken the wrong scooter, please could it be returned as soon as possible to the school.
NEW PARENTS The PTFA would like to invite all parents of new reception children to a coffee morning on Monday 22nd September. This is a good opportunity to get to know other parents and the PTFA. MANAGING CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOUR Next week, Tracy and Jackie will be starting a five-‐week course called ‘Managing Children’s Behaviour’. If you would like any details or are interested in attending then please speak to Tracy or Jackie. PGL Year 6 children will be leaving for their PGL residential visit on Friday. If you have not had an information pack, or have any questions, then please speak to Mr Garvey.
