Ahoy Sailors & Crews of the Ocala Beer & Raft Society and thanks to Skip Archibald and Bob Cole for the briefing on that at the last meeting and to Jim Edens for the meeting. I missed it but hope to get some feedback about it next time. With so many things to do in this last month of the year it figures we will have the shortest day on the 21st and the beginning of Winter … brrrr it’s going to get cold out there. Hope to see you all at Francesco’s this Thursday and our Annual Christmas Party on the 10th. Tis the Season… Gangway ! . . . . .

MINUTES OF THE POT-LUCK DINNER / NOVEMBER 5, 2016
Vice-Commodore Jim Edens had the American flag in place and called the meeting to order at a 5:42 PM. John Cicio was in Orlando and couldn’t make the meeting for this event.Jim Edens thanked Pat & Wayne for the great Margartaville event that they hosted for this Pot-Luck Dinner Meeting. There was a great turn out as usual for this party and especially since the event was shared with the last of our Fall Rum Races.
Jim recognized all the member birthdays in November: John Cicio 11/9, Susan Randall 11/16, Wayne Birkenmeyer 11/16, Maxine Grover 11/16 and Ross Martin 11/30.Also Jim welcomed guests present: Mary and Scott Barber, invited by Bob Cole.Jim Edens asked the members if all club communications were good - no complaints were reported.
Jan Cole delivered the Treasurer's Report:Starting Balance 10/1/2016 $3,125.48Ending Balance 10/31/2016 $2,907.41A motion was made to accept the Treasurer's Report and seconded.
The Secretary's Report was approved as published in the November Newsletter on our website.
Old Business:Art Twitchell reported that Bobbie Ciraco should still be in our thoughts as she was still having some issues with passing stones. Mark Ciraco fortunately has just retired and is home assisting her.

(Old Business cont’d): New Business:The first order of new business was presenting the Awards for the Fall Rum Races.Bob Cole made the presentation of the Framed Placing Certificates to the skippers. They were: First Place - Paul Straub, Second Place - Art Twitchell and Third Place - Bob Cole.The Winner of the Big Bottle of Rum drawing was Jim Edens
Next Ed Sims gave a highlight of coverage to the upcoming Intra-Lake race at Crescent City on Nov 19th being the Crescent Lake Bear Island Regatta. Ed Sims and Art Twitchell planned on entering their respective sailboats and welcoming club members to come and crew with them.
Jim reviewed some of the events coming up in December: Buccaneers Night at Francesco’s, St Petersburg Boat Show, LMSA Kettle Cup Regatta and Light up Lake Weir. He handed over some time for Skip Archibald to cover the Annual Christmas Party details including the Chinese Gift Exchange. Bob Cole mentioned that there was also a Round the lake Race at Lake Eustis on December 3rd.
The meeting officially adjourned at 5:57 PM.
OBRS Meeting began promptly after the regular meeting starting with the 50/50 Raffle. The results were: the scratch-offs were won by Jan Schumacher, Art Twitchell, Pat Birkenmeyer, Bob Cole, Ed Sims, and Skip Archibald. Skip Archibald also won the $35 of the ($70) 50/50 Raffle.
John Cicio was not there to pass on the Gavel but Skip Archibald and Bob Cole shared in explaining what the OBRS was all about for the benefit of our guests Mary and Scott Barber The discussion gradually faded away and the meeting was over by 6:12 PM.

Crescent City Yacht Club & Three Bananas BEAR ISLAND REGATTA November 19, 2016
CCYC, Crescent Lake and The three Bananas are favorites of OSC sailors. We had 2 of the 8 sailboats competing in this race and one of ours came in first for the displacement class. The day started with a breathless breeze and finished with robust wind.

Directions to Archibald’s @ 1 Chinica Drive, Summerfield, FL 34491 Go south of Ocala and through Belleview on 27/441 to Sunset Harbor Road (After you leave Belleview go about 5 miles to the 4th traffic light with a Qwik King on the left and a Kangaroo on the far right corner); Go East (left) on Sunset Harbor Rd about 1 mile to the Kangaroo convenience store at Timucuan Rd.; Turn left and go to the end (about 1 mile) then left on Chinica Dr.; 1 SE Chinica Dr. is the last house on the right. There are signs for parking!
