K etura Isidor, Physician Assistant has nowbeen with AAHS for 6 months in regardsto this she stated, “It feels like I belong

here already with the way the community hasembraced us. The people make the place whereyou are and that has been true here.” Keturareceived her undergraduate in Biology, Pre‐Medat University of Nebraska, Lincoln and herMasters of Physician Assistant studies at ButlerUniversity. Prior to coming to AAHS she workedin a settin where she only had 15 minutes todedicate to her patie ts. When observing theculture of AAHS she knew she would fit in; the“we’re here for you” standard is what attractedher to come. Ketura is proud to say “we are herefor a purpose!” Her interactions with patie tsthus far have been great. “It’s nice to be able tobuild a relationship with them and know you cansee them again. I am able to treat them more likefamily instead of a number. With more time I getto go further to see what they and their familyneed. It’s a different way of practicing medicinethat I’ve always wanted to do. It’s really whatmedicine should be like, to give them the carethey need to benefit them best,” said Ketura.

Ketura and her husband Daniel enjoy embracingtheir community. They jumped right in and gotinvolved in the Spirit of Appleton. Following thecomradery the play created they could tellsomething was happening here in Appleton andwanted to get involved. With the help of HopeSchmidt the couple has started a dancing class.“Dancing brings people together by having funand exercising without knowing it! Health wiseit’s a good thing, it brings people together andlifts spirits up. Right now we are at the basics, butwho knows how far it could go!” Keturacommented. Search, “Let’s Move Togethergroup,” on Facebook to get up to date info!

Another one of Ketura andDaniel’s passions is to giveback by leading missiontrips to Haiti. They try andgo twice a year to domission work in orphan‐ages, medical locationand the community.According to testimonieof past participa ts, “it islife changing.” Ketura alsogives back through herPremier Jewelry businesswith proceeds going toHaiti, sales have generated over $15,000.00! Language disordersoccur when a person has trouble understanding others(recepti e language), or sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings(expressive language). Some common diagnoses that cancause difficulty with speech and language include stroke, dementia, injuries and Parkinson’s. Children with autismADAH and stuttering also benefit from speech therapy.

AAHS is proud to an‐nounce that we are nowone of the first Telestrokelocations in the area! Theenti e ER staff has beentrained in stoke care byCentraCare of St. Cloud,MN, and on June 10th thetechnology went live.Telestroke allows doctorswho have advanced train‐ing in the nervous system(neurologists) the abilityto remotely evaluate peo‐ple who have had acutestrokes. Telestroke worksby having a camera set upin each location allowingboth hospitals instantvideo access to one an‐other. This is a huge ad‐vancement in our abilityto rapidly evaluate andtreat patie ts having astroke. It allows the neu‐rologist in St. Cloud to seethe patie t in Appleton,do the assessment rightaway and advise diagno‐sis and treatment to thephysician here.

Don’t Wait, every minutecounts! The longer astroke goes untreated, the greater the potentiafor brain damage and dis‐ability. Signs/Symptomsof stroke include • Trouble with

speaking andunderstanding

• Paralysis ornumbness of theface, arm or leg

• Trouble withseeing in oneor both eyes

• A sudden severeheadache withvomiting odizziness

• Trouble walking
