xcerpts from the Recounts

Room 7 wrote about their

three days at camp.

I really enjoyed camp. I learnt that

I was scared of heights and a lot

about Room 7. I’d love to go back

to Ern Halliday if I could. I’d even

like to live there. I had the best

three days of my life!!!

Last Day- Term 3

Year 6 Camp continued… We got our walking feet on and

walked to Ern Halliday. It was

surprisingly not as far as I thought!

When we got there we went to

Archery and shot some arrows.

Fling! Pew! With excitement, my

team came second. Surprisingly

as I was the only girl in the team.

By Sophie

On our last day, we were

frantically packing and waiting for

the bus to take us to Latitude.

Once we were finally there, we all

started at the skywalk. Once we

finished that, we stayed at rock

climbing. My time at camp was

awesome and I hope to go to Ern

Halliday again.

Family Domestic Violence Forum Gingin District High School hosted a forum on family

domestic violence and its impact on student

development and well-being on Thursday, 15th

August. The forum involved several schools from

around our region, including Yanchep Secondary

College, Bindoon Primary School and East Butler

Primary School.

Parent Vacancy on the School Council Due to the resignation of Nic Grayer from our School

Council, a vacancy has arisen for a Parent

Representative. The vacancy is for the remainder of

2019 and for the 2020 and 2021 school year.

Nominations for the position must be submitted in

writing or by email to Kevin Brady at the school and

must be received by 4.00 p.m. on Monday 9th

September. If more than one nomination is received,

an election of all parents will be held.

Working with the School Community

Most parents approach the school in a manner that attempts to resolve any issues that may arise, and we

thank you for your willingness to work with the school when this occurs. Last week the Minister for Education

made a statement about encouraging partnerships between parents and schools. Consistent with the

Minister’s statement, the school will no longer respond to abusive or rude email or phone messages. The school

has produced a pamphlet called ‘Working with Gingin District High School’ to provide some ideas for

partnering with our school. This is available in the front office.

Athletics Yr 3 & Under Team Games Structure

Due to limited numbers in some factions, the Year 3 & Under Team games for 2019 will consist of 6 team

members instead of 8. Those Year 4 students who are not selected in their respective team games shall be

placed into the Year 3 & Under team where there is less than 6 available students. This will allow Junior Primary

Students the opportunity to participate in team games as opposed to cancelling the event.

Book Week

Staff and students participated in a week-long celebration of Book Week. Classroom doors and windows were

creatively decorated and students were encouraged to read, with reading areas set up outside at recess and

lunch times. The Book Week Parade was sensational with amazing costumes from students and staff on show.

Well done, everyone!
