Associate in Arts and ScienceAssociate in Arts (C,P,O) The Associate in Arts degree is a broad program for transfer into a four-year college or university. The degree can also be taken by students who are undecided on their specific area of study. This degree will take approximately two years to complete as a full-time student. More specialized AA degrees such as AA Business Administration, AA Communication or AA Education allow students to focus more on courses related to a four-year degree in that specific area. Associate in Science (C,P,O) The Associate in Science degree is for programs that are more math and science oriented. They are designed to transfer into a four-year college or university in areas specific to health, technical degrees, and some pre-professional programs. Agriculture, Natural Resources and SciencesAgriculture (C) Students study agriculture business, agronomy, animal and dairy science. Agriculture Business (C,O) Students develop technical agricultural skills as well as skills in communications, human relations, management and sales. Ag Pro - Applied Agriculture Studies (C) Prepare for employment in an entry level agriculture career with hands-on learning or make the seamless transition to the Agriculture Production AAS degree. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $6,083, Award: Diploma

Chemical Technician (C) Use state-of-the-art chemical lab instrumentation to learn routine to complex chemical laboratory procedures and processes. Dairy Science (C) Receive 120-hours of hands-on experience in a 150-cow, training facility. This program is ideal for students wanting to transfer to earn a four-year degree. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $11,771, Award: AS

Dairy Science Technology (C) Ideal for students entering a dairy career, returning to the family dairy or transferring for a four-year degree. Get 120-hours of hands-on experience in a 150-cow, training facility. Certificate options are: Dairy Breeding Specialist, Dairy Feeding Specialist and Dairy Health Specialist. Enology/Enology Specialist (C,P,O) Provides the necessary skills to enter the field of wine-making either as an entrepreneur or a skilled worker for an established winery. John Deere TECH (C) Receive classroom and top-notch lab experiences on John Deere products and a unique opportunity to work at a John Deere dealership. The program is supported by John Deere Company, Kansas City branch and operated by NICC. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,719, Award: AAS

Large Animal Veterinary Technician (C) (Pending Dept. of Education approval) A Large Animal Veterinary Technician is a professional who performs animal medical care under the supervision of a veterinarian. Designed to meet veterinary technician certification, students in this program will gain knowledge through course work and hands-on experience with a focus on livestock. Length: 4 semesters & 2 summers, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,245, Award: AAS

Pre-Veterinary Medicine (C) Upon graduating, students can transfer to Iowa State University as a junior to complete their four-year degree and apply to its veterinary school. Students complete general requirements, and are trained in dairy cattle management at a 150-cow, dairy training center. Viticulture/Viticulture Technology (C,P,O) Provides the necessary skills to enter the field of grape-growing either as an entrepreneur or a skilled worker for an established vineyard. Business and ComputersAccounting Clerk (O) Develop skills as an accounting clerk, bookkeeper, cost accounting clerk or payroll clerk. Continue your studies in the Accounting Specialist program. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $5,688, Award: Diploma

Accounting Specialist (C,P) This program builds more advanced skills in cost accounting, general accounting and other areas of financial reporting. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $11,060, Award: AAS

Administrative Assistant (C,P) Become well-rounded in all areas of office management. Students take upper-level courses in management, law, computers, accounting, human relations, business communication and keyboarding. Business Administration (C,P,O) This program develops your skills in accounting, business education, computer science, finance, human resources, management and marketing. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,112, Award: AA

Computer Analyst (P) A combination of technical, communication, and business skills will position students for advancement in the computer field. Choose from two options: Business and Web Programming or Networking Administration and Tech Support. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $11,060, Award: AAS

Computer Applications Technician (C) Become a software application specialist, developing skills to operate computers effectively. Continue studies in the Administrative Assistant program. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $5,530, Award: Diploma

Computer Technology (C) Students learn to manage computer systems and databases, and gain a foundation in math, physics, electricity, electronics and computer networking. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,586, Award: AAS

Criminal Justice (C,P,O) For students interested in law enforcement, criminal and juvenile justice systems, corrections or security. Apply classroom theory to real-world challenges. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,270, Award: AA

Entrepreneurial Cosmetology (C,P,O) This degree provides licensed cosmetologists with the needed training to successfully open and operate a cosmetology business. Graphic Design (P) This design-based program equips students with skills necessary to compete for professional design positions upon graduation. Law Enforcement (C,P,O) Students gain skills necessary to work within police departments, sheriffs’ offices, highway patrol departments, narcotics bureaus, correctional institutions, crime prevention laboratories or industry and private investigation services. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,270, Award: AA

Legal Assistant/Paralegal (P) This degree prepares students for a career in the legal field and makes them eligible for the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) exam. Graduates can transfer this degree to a four-year college. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,008, Award: AA

Management Information Systems (P) This program will prepare students to enter the workforce or transfer to a computer-related major at a four-year college or university. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,112, Award: AA

Marketing Management (P) This program prepares students for retail operation and management. Develop skills in oral and written communications, organizing, directing and evaluating business activities. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, Tuition: $11,060, Award: AAS

Office Technology: General (C) The office assistant is integral to the operation of a successful business and often holds positions of considerable responsibility. Students can specialize in General or Medical Office Technology. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $6,952, Award: Diploma

Office Technology: Medical (P) The office assistant is integral to the operation of a successful business and often holds positions involving considerable responsibility. We offer Legal, Medical or Secretarial options. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,584, Award: Diploma

Tourism (P) Students learn the skills necessary for immediate employment in an entry-level position in the hospitality or travel field. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $3,081, Award: Certificate

Health, Human and Family ServicesAssociate Degree Nursing (C,P) Learn to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of a client’s health care needs. Gain clinical experience in hospitals, home health care, long-term care facilities and community settings. After earning the two-year degree, students can complete the licensure exam to be a registered nurse (RN). Length: 5 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $13,391, Award: AAS

Cosmetology (C) Students earn their degree in the college’s on-campus, full-service salon. This program provides a strong foundation in theory and salon experience. After successfully completing the licensure exam, graduates can work in an established salon or become a salon owner. See also Entrepreneurial Cosmetology. Dental Assisting (P) Assist dentist’s in all phases of dentistry including general and specialty chair-side and lab procedures, materials, radiology and business office management. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,584, Award: Diploma

Early Childhood (C,P) Enter the early child education field as an assistant or lead teacher in a day care, preschool or Head Start program. The AA degree is an excellent first step if planning to earn a four-year degree in early childhood or elementary education. Length: 2-4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,031-$12,245, Award: AA, Diploma

Education (Ed) (C,P) Complete general education courses as well as specialized education experiences. Graduates of the AA program complete the first two-years of a teaching degree prior to transferring. °Paraeducator certificate is available. Electroneurodiagnostic Technology (C,P) Students learn to record and study electrical activity of the brain and nervous system using a variety of techniques and equipment. Technologists will find career opportunities in hospitals, clinics, physician offices and research facilities. This program is in cooperation with Eastern Iowa Community College (EICC). Length: 4 semesters & 2 summers, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $3,081 (does not include EICC fees), Award: AAS

Firefighting Specialist (C,P) Designed for firefighters affiliated with an existing paid or volunteer fire department. Emphasis is placed upon specialized firefighting courses designed to expand a firefighter’s knowledge and develop leadership for emergency response. Length: 3 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,112, Award: AAS

Health Information Technology (HIT) (C,P,O) Learn to maintain health information consistent with medical, administrative, ethical and regulatory requirements. Health information is used in all health care settings, and opportunities are expanding into law firms, insurance companies and software vendors. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $11,376, Award: AAS

HIT - Coding Specialist (P,O) Students learn coding activities for healthcare reimbursement purposes. Length: 3 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,505, Award: Diploma

Human Services (C,P) Work as a human service worker on a counseling staff, as a youth care supervisor, or in other positions. It also prepares graduates to transfer for a four-year degree in psychology, social work, sociology, special education or substance abuse. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $11,218, Award: AA

Human Services Generalist (C,P) Prepare graduates to enter the workplace in human services agencies, services, and delivery systems. Choose from a choice of electives in combination with a strong human services core curriculum. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,349, Award: AAS

Medical Laboratory Technician (C,P) Work under the supervision of a medical technologist, pathologist or other qualified physician, performing tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Offered in cooperation with Hawkeye Community College (HCC). Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $5,372 (does not include HCC fees), Award: AAS

Medical Transcriptionist (C,P,O) Translate and edit recorded dictation by physicians and other health care providers. Students need to understand the language of medicine, human biology, diagnostic procedures and treatment. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $6,794, Award: Diploma

Paramedic (P) Learn to evaluate and manage the ill or injured at pre-hospital and emergency sites. Paramedics work with other highly trained people to provide quality emergency care in the least amount of time. An EMT-Basic Certificate is also offered. Length: 1-4 semesters & 1 summer (varies), *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $1,264-$10,112, Award: AAS, Certificate

Practical Nursing (C,P) Gain classroom, lab and clinical experience in hospitals, nursing homes and a variety of settings. Continue for the second year in the Associate Degree Nursing program or work as an LPN. Length: 3 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $6,715, Award: Diploma

Professional Massage Therapy (C) Prepares students for entry-level work in hospitals, chiropractic offices, health clubs, spas, salons, pain management centers, sports medicine and private practice. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $6,241, Award: Diploma

Psychology (C,P) This program will prepare students to enter the workforce or transfer as a psychology major at a four-year college or university. Length: 1-4 semesters & 1 summer (varies), *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,112 , Award: AA

Radiologic Technology (P) Work in a hospital, clinic or physician’s office producing diagnostic X-rays which are interpreted by a radiologist or physician. Length: 4 semesters & 2 summers, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $13,351, Award: AAS

Respiratory Care (P) Working closely with physicians, graduates are involved in managing the care of patients with heart and lung disease. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $13,272, Award: AAS

Surgical Technology (P) Surgical Technologists work in operating rooms or in ambulatory surgery areas. Prepare to work in the scrub (sterile field), circulating (outside the sterile field) or as a first assistant–directly assisting the surgeon. This program is in cooperation with Kirkwood Community College (KCC). Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer (varies), *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $2,212 (does not include KCC fees), Award: AAS, Diploma

Industrial TechnologiesAutomotive Mechanics (P) Basic auto repair and the use of modern diagnostic equipment make up this one-year program. Student are eligible to complete the ASE certification exam in several areas. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,584, Award: Diploma

Automotive Technology (C) Develop expertise in maintaining, diagnosing and repairing technologically advanced vehicles in this two-year program. Student are eligible to complete the ASE certification exam in several areas. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,245, Award: AAS

Building Materials Management (C) Market and manage material supplies for the construction field. In one year, students gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $5,925, Award: Diploma

Carpentry (C,P) Develop skills in basic residential and light commercial carpentry. In addition to the classroom, students are part of a team that builds a house. Certificate options are: Cabinet Making , Floor and Framing Skills, Finishing Skills and Foundation Skills. Commercial-Residential Electrician (C) Learn about alternating and direct current, National Electrical Code, electrical design, motor control principles and motor repair. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Specialist (P) In less than one year, learn to make two- and three-dimensional computer generated drawings, blueprints and computer animation and simulation. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $1,659, Award: Certificate

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist Technician (P) Competency-based instruction includes safe operation of engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, saws, drills and hand tools. Students will learn to operate computerized numerical control (CNC) machines. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,426, Award: Diploma

Construction Technology (P) Students will increase their skills and improve their advancement opportunities. Courses include hands-on construction experience, communications, business and math. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,482, Award: AAS

Diesel Mechanics (P) Students work on every truck system, including electrical systems, fuel systems, drive trains and engines. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,268, Award: Diploma

Electronic Technology (P) This two-year program combines science, engineering and math. Learn to solve problems in the development, manufacture and service of electronic equipment and systems. Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $10,744, Award: AAS

Gas Utility Construction and Service (P) Learn to install, maintain and operate both high- and low-pressure natural gas distribution systems used to supply residential, commercial and industrial companies. Length: 4 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $12,087, Award: AAS

Heating and Air Conditioning (P) Learn how to install and repair heating and air conditioning equipment in this one-year program. Follow blueprints and design specifications and be part of a team on a construction project. Length: 2 semesters & 1 summer, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,347, Award: Diploma

Industrial Electrician (C) Learn motor repair, motor control principles, solid state fundamentals, industrial principles and design and programmable logic controllers. Industrial Technology Teacher Education (C) Earn an Associate in Science degree from NICC and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Teacher Education with a 7-12 teaching endorsement in Industrial Technology from Upper Iowa University (UIU). Length: 4 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: Dependent on UIU tuition and fees, Award: AS

Welding (P) With welding skills, students have opportunities to do repairs or perform fabrication or construction in a variety of industries. Length: 2 semesters, *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $5,688, Award: Diploma

Wind Turbine Repair Technician (C) Students will receive training in safety, repelling techniques, first aid, communications, Geographic Information System (GIS) theory, maintenance of wind generating equipment, with emphasis on mechanical systems and subsystems (turbine components, gear boxes, gear failure, lubricants and preventive maintenance.) Length: 1-4 semesters & 1 summer (varies), *Estimated Tuition and Fees: $7,347-$12,087, Award: AAS, Diploma
