PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

As a Eucharist-centered, Giving-focused Parish, we strive to more fully know, love, and serve God, neighbor and church, while faithfully learning and living-out His Word.

CIVIL DISCOURSE “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.” These words bring us up short! What could we be doing to grieve the Holy Spirit? Alas, the same things that the Ephesians were doing in the time of Paul, that is, fighting, shouting, reviling each other with fury, anger, and malice. Just tune in to talk radio some day or observe some “road rage” on the expressway. If we who are partakers of the Body of Christ can treat one another this way, what does that mean about our belief in Christ’s message of peace and reconciliation? The Eucharist is the sac-rament of unity. It is communion with God and with each other. A good first step would be to speak civilly to each other, even in disagreement! Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

However, we were not designed to do it on our own, we need His help. For-tunately, God gave us the greatest gift of all, His son, Jesus. DIOCESAN NEWS

DID YOU KNOW???? Out of respect for God’s holiness, the people of Israel do not pronounce His name. In Sacred Scripture, God’s revealed name YHWH is always replaced by the divine title LORD, which in Hebrew is Adonai and in Greek is Kyrios. By this same title, the divinity of Jesus as Lord is acclaimed. (CCC #209)

History of Synods Part I

Pope Paul VI established the Synod of Bishops in 1965. The Second Vatican Council had just concluded. Motivated by the experience of the Council itself, Paul VI desired to: “permanently establish a Council of Bishops, with the aim of providing for a continuance after the Council of the great abundance of benefits that we have been so happy to see flow to the Christian people during the time of the Council as a result of our close collaboration with the bishops.”
