My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, How wonderful to be back and Thanks for your prayers during my week away. It was restful and refreshing, visiting around with priest friends I hadn’t seen in a while (and joining one of them on a trip to see his family in Charleston) and then spending some time at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, a short distance from Atlanta. Even though a brief get-away, it seemed longer and now I look forward to catching up. Hopefully I will be able to have some more VayCay (vacation) down the road. I am very happy to announce to our Parish & School Communities that we have hired Karen (pronounced Kar-In) Zarandona as our Director of Music & Coordinator of Liturgy. She has been assisting at various Masses the past couple of months and we look forward to having her fulltime as a member of the Pastoral Team. Karen is excited to join us and we Welcome her and her family. Check out the article in this bulletin. Well, Summer Break - 2015 is soon to be officially over. We look forward to the return of our K-8th Graders on Aug. 12th and our Preschoolers will start the week after. Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable time!

Peace, Prayers & All Good Things, Fr. Charles

Paz, Oraciones y Todas Cosas Buenas, Padre Charles

THE BEGINNING OF EVERYTHING Everyone recognizes the truth of good proverbs, and so they endure from generation to generation. The Russians have a surprisingly bold one that fits this Sunday’s Gospel: “Bread is the beginning of everything.” Judging from the first reading, Elijah might have felt that it was too late for bread—too late for life itself. This great prophet was at the end of his rope and endurance. Then, not one, but two angels visit him. One offers food and drink. The other gives startling directions. For Elijah, this food from the angels is bread for his journey. On the strength of the heaven-sent gift of food, he walks to the mountain of God. In today’s Gospel, Jesus offers himself, not just as bread for the journey, but as bread for life itself. He gives his flesh as life for the world. “I am the bread of life” (John 6:48). He is the beginning of everything. Copyright @ J. S. Paluch Co.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Principal’s Principles Resurrection Catholic School is about to start a new school year! Are you ready, students? Take some time to make some goals for what you hope to accomplish. Maybe you want to be more organized? Perhaps you want to be more friendly? Do you want to try out for a school sport? Would you like to make a better grade in a certain subject? Don't forget to include God in all of your goals! Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your heart and guide you as you make efforts to reach your potential! Consider praying the prayer below for all students:

Prayer for Students

Lord our God, in your wisdom and love

you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. Send your spirit upon these students

and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies

and draw ever closer to you,the source of all knowledge. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen. (Taken from: Catholic Household Blessings and Prayers)

Karen Zarandona, our new Director of Music and Coordinator of Liturgy, comes to us from South Africa, and more recently from Sebastian, Florida. There, she served as Director of Music for St. Sebastian Catholic Church for almost nine years, and worked closely with the Liturgy Committee and all Ministries. She looks forward to experiencing the beauty and depth of Catholic Liturgy as she worships with us each week. Karen has an extensive teaching background (15 years) with High School and Elementary School students, which has equipped her with patience, joy, and a strong desire to help all ages discover their talents. She began directing choirs at the young age of 18 in South Africa, and continued her passion for music in the United States after moving here in 1981. Although her degree is in Vocal and Keyboard Performance, she prefers to see others shine, and has made a career of excellence wherever she serves. Karen, her husband Joshua, and son Seth (21), just recently moved to the lovely city of Lakeland. They also have a son, Dustin (29) who lives in Delray, Florida. Your positive input is welcome as she makes Resurrection Catholic Church & School her home.
