Nizoral (ketoconazole)
May cause potentially fatal liver Injury and adrenal gland problems
Nouvelle Sante
The FDA has warned that Nizoral (ketoconazole) oral tablets may cause potentially fatal liver injury resulting in the need for organ transplantation. The warning strongly recommends patients suffering from liver disease should avoid this drug.
Known as antifungal agents, Ketoconazole based drugs, are prescribed to combat various forms of mycoses, fungal infections that can start on the skin by direct contact, or in the lungs by inhalation.
Nizoral may also cause a drop in production of corticosteroids by adrenal glands. This insufficiency can result in chronic exhaustion, fatigue, depression, dropping blood pressure, and potentially reduced sex drive.
