The magazine is published by IPC media. IPC media publish over 100 magazines and has three departments all

specializing into a certain demographic. They are appealing towards a wide mass audience with the use of different

magazines specializing into different areas such as golf or rugby for sports.The target audience for the magazine is in the age of 16-24 years old. The majority of the readers are male at 69% and 52% of the readers are working full time.

The readers are heavily interested into music spending over £1300 a year on music equipment.

House Style

The font style for the contents page is serif so this is formal, but this is the contrasted by the use of sans serif fonts so this then gives a calm and laid back feel for the magazine.

The use of black for all of the text connotes a sense of being quite heavy and loud. This relates to the type of music that the audience like which is rock music.

All of the content is laid out into columns so this connotes an organized and professional feel.

The contents page doesn’t use a continuation of the brand logo or colour scheme so it doesn’t stick with the front pages house style.

Imagery

• The images used all relate to one of the article headlines so you can easily navigate to the section that you want to.

• There are large amount of images so this connotes a sense of being more active as there is less text on the page.

• There are very few page numbers so this shows that the magazine has very few articles that will be popular with the reader so this is being made for a niche audience. They have also given a small list of regular features in the magazine.

Content

• The articles in the magazine are mainly geared towards rock music with the mention of ‘best festivals?’ and new bands like ‘Blur’. The target audience for the magazine will be in the age range of around 18-24 so going to gigs and festivals would be something that a music fan at that age would do quite regularly. Also with the use of mainstream music by ‘Kanye West’ this will open the magazine to much wider audience as it is more mainstream.
