TEST METHOD

TEST SUBSTRATES

Application weight • Binder was applied at 25% dry on weight of fiber.

Sample preparation • Binder is applied wet to the desired coating weight. • Filters are dried for 5 minutes at 160°C. • Strips are cut out (width: 50mm, length: 250mm). • For wet tensile strength measurements the coated filters are put in a 1g/l wetting agent in water solution.

Tensile measurement • Tensile measurements are tested on a Zwick tensile tester • Test speed: 100mm/min • All results are expressed as N/mm

Curing temperature can play an important role on the final performance of the binder. BC 6217 was coated onto Whatman #4 filter paper and on Whatman

GF/A microfiber filter glass fiber (25% bwof) and cured for 5 minutes at two different temperatures, 120°C and 150°C. The table below clearly shows a marked

improvement in the tensile properties of the product cured at the highest temperatures.
