Parish Mission - November 13th, 14th, 15th at 7 pm - Holy Spirit Church “Discovering a God Rich in Mercy in a World that Knows No Mercy”
Presenter Fr. Dan Crosby
Scripture often tells us our “God is rich in mercy.” And the prayer, “Lord have mercy” is
daily on our lips. But what is mercy? When was the last time it entered your speech or life (apart from times in church)? When our world constantly cries out for justice, who cares about mercy? Where is mercy?
We’ll explore these areas during our Parish Mission opening up for ourselves this marvelous gift of God and
what it means for us and asks of us in our tension-filled 21st century.

Do you Kiva? You can empower people around the world with
a $25 micro loan. So far the total lent has been $10,725
from an initial deposit of $1522 several years ago.
Since February 2011 the Holy Spirit Team has lent
out 429 loans. Give it a try and join the Holy Spirit Team, man-
aged by a parishioner. More information at the entrance of
church. See the link on our website under how we serve/
outreach or visit www.kiva.org. We are approaching the end of the Church year & the messages
from the Scriptures & from the pulpit remind us of the
need for diligence in the care of our souls in prepara-
tion for the 2nd coming of Jesus the Christ. We hear
all manner of dire things that are yet to come. Because of the
amount of information through our instant technology some peo-
ple think the times are here. It is important to hear the HOPE that
the Living Word of God proclaims to us each & every day of our
lives here on earth; GOD is GOD & Salvation is in GOD’s hands.
There is a quote from St. Augustine that goes something like this:
“Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though
everything depended on you.” When we believe that we begin to
live it. There are so many caring & compassionate volunteers who
look forward to helping those who need a hand up. Thank you for
participating in this work or mercy.

day, November 17. Come & have a cup of fair trade coffee, give

Liturgical Tidbits: Pray! Invite! Encourage! Affirm!
Vocations! There are vocations:
which manifest themselves. They must be fostered.
which are not conscious of themselves. They must be
awakened.
which do not dare manifest themselves. They must be
found and encouraged.
which are in fear of being lost. They must be reassured.
which meet with opposition. They must be strengthened.
which are paralyzed by poverty. They must be helped
financially.
Look around you. How many men and women in your par-
ishes are caring and compassionate individuals who are
good listeners, articulate speakers, and loving enthusiastic

Catholics? How many of these special, gifted people have ever
been invited to consider becoming a priest, sister, brother, perma-
nent deacon, or full-time lay minister? Statistics show that 80% of
the 18-30 year olds in the United States and Canada have never
been asked to consider a Church Vocation.
At the same time that the Church is praying for vocations to the
priesthood, it is also reminded that vocations come in different
packages. Married couples, parents, religious — all who have
made a commitment to their relationship with God have indeed
chosen a vocation. Our prayer is for all to hear and respond to
their own vocation.
