If you can’t ring during Grace’s scheduled times and you are will-ing to ring another time or at the Post Office, please sign the sub list and someone will contact you.

This is Salvation Army’s major fund raiser. Eightysix percent of the funds stay in the Tomahawk area to assist with rent, fuel, medical expenses, clothing needs, etc.

Cookie Walk, Lefse, and Craft Sale

Our annual event will take place Satur-day, Dec. 10th with a slight change in times. Craft area opens first at 8:30am

and the Cookie Walk/Lefse area opens at 9:30am. Plan to get to church early because the Christmas cookies, candies, lefse, and beautiful craft items will sell quickly. The event ends at noon.

Crafters: Please call Darlene W echsler , 715 6306471 to inform her of what you have made, what price you think is appropriate, and if you want any of your unsold items returned to you. Darlene plan how to display and mark your creations. Reminder: You can still contact Darlene if you are interested in using some of the donated material for projects.

Lefse makers: Please plan to work Monday, Dec. 5th and Tuesday, Dec. 6th. New people are al-ways welcome and you can contact Linda Halverson, 715 4534684, with any questions. Signup sheets to work, donate ingredients, or to place orders will be posted in the Gathering Area soon. Funds raised this year will go to the K itchen Renovation Fund, Debt Retirement Fund, and up-dating the "Confirmation" hallway. As a reminder, last year we were able to purchase the Gathering Ar-ea furniture, Lefse equipment, and direct money to-ward Debt Retirement. None of this would be possi-ble without all of You helping in so many ways for this event to take place. Thank you so much to each one of you!!

A Heartfelt Thank you to Corky and Bill Burcalow, Julie and Jim Dentler, Leanne and Bob Setlak, Al Overhaug, the PPP guys and THRIVENT, for all the help with the office refresh in October! Corky and Julie did a fabulous job of choosing colors and painting the walls (with assistance from Bill and Jim); Al and the PPP guys moved and repositioned furni-ture; Bob and Leanne Setlak removed the old blinds, retrofitted the new ones, and cleaned up after the job was complete. This refresh was done without any funds from the church budget. A Thrivent Action Grant got the ball rolling. We are blessed! Thank you so much.

Pastor Mark is doing his second onemonth sabbati-cal in November. He will be participating in Vibrant Faith’s “Certificate in Faith Formation for the 21st Century.” This is a new approach to developing leaders for faith formation. It will focus on knowledge and skills, practices and approaches, support and encouragement for implementing a comprehensive approach in faith formation that en-

gages all ages and generations in a lifelong process of growing as dis-ciples of Jesus Christ. It is designed to develop practices especially suited to the needs of each specific faith community in five areas of great importance in the 21st Century:

• engages all generationsintergenerationally

• nurtures family faith and equips parents to transmit faith at home• addresses the unique needs of age groupschildren, youth,

young adults, and adults• develops missional outreach to the unaffiliated and uninvolved,

and utilizes online communities and resources, and digitallyenabled strategies for faith formation

Pastor Don Cannady is covering all pastoral care needs during this month with the assistance of Wendy Black and Pastor Check. Wendy, and Pastor Check will be leading worship.

Christmas With Friends

“Christmas with Friends” is once again being planned for Christmas Day 2016. Last year, we were blessed to serve over 200 people including those who came for the meal at Grace Lutheran Church and meals that were delivered to the shutins and our friends who were required to work on Christmas Day.

The dinner will be served at the church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with deliveries taking place beginning at about 11 am. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling Debbie at the church office at (715) 4534066. Please indicate to Debbie whether you will be dining at the church or need to have your meal delivered.

The outpouring of support from Grace and the community has been amazing and we welcome the support again this year. Last year, approximately thirtyfive volunteers helped before, during, and after the meal, as well as ap-proximately twenty volunteers who delivered meals around the Tomahawk area. We also had people distribute flyers to local businesses to advertise the event and others who decorated and set up the fellowship hall. In addi-tion to our volunteers, all of the food items to make the fabulous meal were donated and we had an outpouring of financial support to cover the other costs associated with the event.

With the weather and economy placing additional burdens on people, we believe we will serve a larger number of meals this year. Any monetary donations or gifts of time to help with the dinner will be greatly appreciated. Monetary donations can be dropped off at the office at Grace Lutheran Church. If you are interested in donating your time to this wonderful ministry, please contact Shirley Derleth at 7154534165 or [email protected].

Thanks in advance to all who will share in this magnificent ministry.

November Special OfferingGrace House

Grace House is a very important place. Many people are blessed because Grace Lutheran shares the House with the community. It serves the Salvation Army, the Backpack Program and multiple AA groups. You could say the ripple affect from Grace’s generosity has spread to families way beyond the bounds of Grace House. Salvation Army provides emergency needs to those in our community; they also provide food for countless families of grade school children every week via the Backpack program. The packing of the back-packs takes place at Grace House every week during the school year. The AA groups that meet at Grace House are forever grateful for a safe, anonymous meeting place. The Grace House is priceless to those who use it. You can truly see God at work through the people at Grace House.

From the Stewardship Committee

Lord, What Would You Have Me Give?

So much of life revolves around money. We make money, spend it, save it, waste it, hoard it, and we give it. We are bombarded daily with financial deci-sions ranging from buying a cup of coffee to buying a car. One of the most important decisions regard-ing our money is what we will give to the Lord through our churches. Certainly our financial cir-cumstances affect our giving, but by far the biggest factor is our spiritual maturity. By God’s grace, we understand that God is the source of all good things and that He owns all things. All that we are and have are gifts from God. By our giving, we are mere-ly returning to God what He has already given to us. With hearts filled with gratitude knowing who God is and what He has given to us and done for us, our question might become, “How much of God’s money am I going to keep?”

For Christians, giving is not an option. God is the infinitely perfect giver. He has given us our physical lives and our redeemed lives through Jesus. God’s nature is to give and that giving nature is seen in Jesus who gave lovingly, constantly, graciously, compassionately, and sacrificially. The Apostle Paul tells us, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Ephesians 5:1). Because giving is inher-ent in God’s character, when we give, we reflect His likeness.

Some of us are given much materially while others have received less. Whatever God entrusts to us we are to use faithfully and responsibly. God has cho-sen to use us to spread the Gospel, and money is an important tool to support the mission and ministry of God’s Church. The funding of the Great Commis-sion (Matthew 28:19) needs to come from believers. The money which God entrusts to us has many pur-poses, and the funding of mission work is of first importance. Through the giving of our money, we demonstrate our obedience to Jesus’ command to reach out to all people.

As we spend time in God’s Word seeking His guid-ance to the question as to what we are to give, we are reminded of His Biblical truths regarding giving. God wants us to give the first portion of our incomes (Proverbs 3:9), give regularly (1 Corinthians 16:2), and give generously of our incomes (2 Corinthians 9:13). In His Word, God promises to bless us through our giving (Proverbs 3:10; Luke 6:38). As we prayerfully consider what God wants us to give, let us remember these words from the Apostle Paul, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in [your giving].” (2 Corin-thians 9:8).
