Happy Thanksgiving!

When this time of year rolls around, I like to reflect and rejoice as I remember the

many gifts I have to be thankful for in my life. In honor of my very own District 7,

I’d like to share with you the top seven things I’m thankful for this year:

I am thankful to God for allowing me to serve the community as a Coun-

cilmember. God is the ultimate source of the many blessings I have ex-

perienced in my life.

I am thankful for my family.

They keep me grounded and have brought me the greatest joys of my life.

I am thankful to be the Chairperson of the Phoenix City Council Public Safety

and Veterans Subcommittee. It is a true honor to go to bat for the brave

men and women who protect and serve our thriving community.

I am thankful for the individuals who volunteer for the City of Phoenix.

Volunteers give their own personal time to serve, and our community is

able to make a much bigger difference with their help.

I am thankful to live in a city that is culturally and racially diverse.

Phoenix’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and I will continue to

work to make our community more inclusive so people of all walks

of life feel proud and blessed to call Phoenix home.

I am thankful for the Team Phoenix Approach – our way of coming together

to tackle problems in Phoenix. We are always stronger when we work

together, and I can’t wait to see where our community’s collective efforts

take us next.

I am thankful for the community I represent.

My life’s purpose is to work for, and with, my community, and I thank

every member of this community for allowing me to serve you. You

greatly enrich my life, and I strive to do the same for you.

Valet Parking Arrives at

America’s Friendliest Airport

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport now offers travelers a new service to help make the parking experience even easier. Valet Parking is now available at Termi-nal 4, which serves more than 80 percent of Sky Harbor’s passen-gers.

Travelers have two options when it comes to valet parking: Drive-up service in the Terminal 4 gar-age, just a few steps from the door; or reservation-only valet with drop-off at the curb.

Valet services are operated by Freedom Park and Epic Valet. The cost ranges from $30 per day for Terminal 4 drop-off to $32 a day for reservation-only curbside drop-off. Both valet services offer ad-ditional services for travelers, in-cluding the option of having the vehicle washed or serviced.

Registration for Phoenix Parks Recreation Department winter/spring clas-ses and activities is now available. The public can register online or in-person at a community or recreation center. Information about registra-tion is available by visiting phoenix.gov/parks/classes-and-programs. Class offerings are currently viewable online and registrants are encour-aged to update their account information and set up a “wish list” in ad-vance.

In 2015, only 30% of Arizona’s fourth grade students were reading

proficiently. You can help change that. AARP Experience Corps in

partnership with Read On Phoenix is in need of adult volunteers to

help children strengthen their fluency and improve their reading by

3rd grade.

Become involved and help our students grow a love for reading.

SAVE THE DATE: 32nd ANNUAL FQ STORY

HISTORIC HOME TOUR & HOLIDAY STREET FAIR

Saturday, December 3rd evening tour- 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Sunday, December 4th tour & street festival - 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Come tour one of Phoenix’s oldest and most desirable neighborhoods - all

dressed up for the holidays. This year’s tour features homes on Lynwood

Street, west of 7th Avenue. The tour begins on Saturday night with a holiday-

inspired evening of carolers and beautiful streets lined with luminarias and

holiday lights. On Sunday, tour homes and enjoy holiday shopping at dozens

of craft vendors and food booths at the F.Q. Story Street Fair.

Cost: $15 to tour homes - available in advance online or at the event. Bring a

non-perishable food donation for a $1 discount.

Free to simply enjoy the neighborhood and street fair.
