*In May 2012 NYS announced an initial plan to move towards on-line testing
*Originally it was the intention that NYS would use PARCC assessments, and that they could be operational in this current school year
*Where are we now…
*NYS just awarded a contract to Questar to write the NYS 3-8 ELA and Math Assessments for the next five years (2016-2020)

*Where are we now…
*All 3 of our buildings, GF, PL, and MS did indicate that we would like to participate in Computer Based Field Testing in the Spring of 2016.
*One subject at each building
*One grade, or possibly 2 adjacent grades
*Sessions are 40 minutes
*May 31 – Jun 10, 2016
*Lap-tops, Chromebooks, tablets, and PCs can be used (research shows that students perform similar across all of these devices)

*Every teacher in the district uses Castle Learning (Computer Based Testing) a minimum of twice per year*At least 1 time by mid-year mtg. *At least 2 times by the end of the year
*Our Plan…
*3-8 ELA and Math Benchmarks Available on Castle*Math – all 3 are ready (exception of #1 & #2 6th and #2 5th)*ELA - #3 is ready
*We are working to get all 3 Benchmarks at all Grades 3-8, and possibly some at K-2 loaded into Castle
*If you’d like to give one on Castle, please contact Danielle Abrial or Kristy McGrath to have the benchmark shared with you, and then you are able to assign it

*All Teachers will be aware when Level I and Level II Training is being offered:*Required for new teachers who didn’t get this last year*Optional for veteran teachers who would like this training again

*It’s more than just state testing-
*Computer Based Testing and Keyboarding are examples of 21st Century Skills
*Students need knowledge that you each teach in your disciplines. THEY ALSO NEED THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE REAL WORLD!
