ProhibitionRepealed The21stAmendmentendedprohibitionin1933. Legalizingalcoholdidstimulatethegrowthofgrainandreopenedbreweries.

 MostAmericanswelcomedtheendofprohibitionandhopedthatitwouldreducetheroleofgangstersincities.

 Todayprohibitionisseenasafailedsocialexperiment.

TheEmpireStateBuilding Asmallsignofgrowthwastheracetobuildtheworld’stallestbuilding.

  In1931,theEmpireStatebuildinginNewYorkCitywontheracestanding102storiesand1,250feet(67elevatorstraveled1,000feetperminute,cost$41million).
