Raptor System Coming to RUSD!

IMPORTANT NOTICE! On November 5, all visitors (including parents and volunteers) to our schools will need to bring their ID cards as part of a new layer of security we are adding called Raptor. Although this system is being put in place, volunteers still need to complete RUSD forms to volunteer at the school. Please watch this to find out what you need to know!

Driveway Reminders!

•If you are going to pull into the passing lane DRIVE SLOW! The traffic stops to allow our scholars and parents to cross the driveway. Ten seconds of patience goes a long way!

•Please refrain from texting or talking on the phone while you are in the driveway. Keep your eyes on the road. 👀

•If you plan to be one of the first cars in the driveway at dismissal, please be sure that your scholar knows to walk out to the front of the school ASAP. This helps to ensure a continuous and consistent flow of traffic in the driveway.

•Pull all the way forward in the driveway. Drive past the crosswalk, office, all the way down to the kindergarten classrooms. This process allows 15 cars to pull into the driveway at one time.

Attendance

Attendance at school is very important. When students arrive late or are picked up before dismissal, teaching and learning are disrupted. Please make every effort to have your child in school from 8:10-2:30 each day.

Pumpkin Gallery Walk/Themed Shirt Day - October 31st Our school would like to start a tradition where students decorate a pumpkin/gourd at home and bring it to school for display. The pumpkin/gourd may be decorated in any way you would like, but please do not carve it! Also, refrain from any violent/bloody decorations. Start by making a plan and then gather materials. Be creative with anything you have around the house: seeds, fabric, paint, feathers, crayons, cotton balls, buttons, bows, noodles, cereal, etc. Children could also decorate the pumpkin like a character from their favorite book or movie.

This project is completely optional. If your family chooses to participate, please be sure the pumpkin is brought to school on Wednesday, October 31! The students will place it outside of their classroom door. During the day, classes will be encouraged to do a “gallery walk” around the school to visit each classroom’s “pumpkin patch.”

We also encourage the students to wear a fun age-appropriate Halloween themed shirt of their choice on October 31st. Again, please refrain from having a violent or inappropriate message on the shirt.
