consensus on an economic vision for the future, and the policies and programs needed to achieve it,

food and water resources, and the way we
manage them. From its early history, Egypt

output. Regretfully, a lack of infrastructure,
obsolete farming techniques, escalating
water concerns, and outbreaks of disease
amongst livestock have left the sector in
dire condition and in desperate need of
reform. The panel will look to address some
of the root causes of the problems such as

Egypt’s economic development and its growing
population are causing an increasing demand in
electricity, gas, and fuel. This increase is causing
Egypt to look for alternative energy resources.
Blackouts and energy instability have caused
anger and dissatisfaction among citizens.
Coupled with the growing budget deficit, rising
energy consumption has led to an overwhelming
consensus that Egypt can no longer afford its
subsidy system. Egypt’s Energy Sector is in
desperate need for change and the future of
Egypt’s economy will surely be determined by the
manner in which we revitalize this sector.
