Fractions can also be the result of division!Today we will be relating halves and quarters to dividing. Here is a link to an online lesson. Desert plants don’t' always have leaves and if they
do, they are spiky and thin, so they don’t lose as
much water.
Woodland plants have larger leaves so they can
collect as much sunlight as they can even when
they are under the trees.
Ocean plants may look greener because the
green Chlorophyll is what allows them to use light
as energy. If they are under water the light has to
travel further to the plant. They may have long
stems drifting towards the surface and sunlight.
Remind yourselves of the different plant habitats.
Monday 13th July 2020 : OTHER LEARNING: Science
Where in the world would you find the different habitats?
Desert, woodland, grassland ocean, mountain and there are
many more too.
In 'Helpful home learning resources' there is a cut and sort
activity to match plant types to their habitats.
Here is a question about plants that you could
investigate. Why do slugs eat some leaves but not others?
Silver Answers
Sharing in half is the same as sharing into 2.
Sharing into 4 is the same sharing into quarters.
The whole is 2 and the parts are 1 so half is 1.The whole is 4 and the parts are 2 so half is 2 .The whole is 6 and the parts are 3 so half is 3.The whole is 8 and the parts are 4 so half is 4.

1. The Brain Tap : Take a piece of paper
and draw and write down anything and
everything that might be on your mind.
Give yourself five minutes and it may
be tricky the first few times. You are
using the writing as a rubbish dump and
when you have finished it's up to you
what you do with it. Let it all out. You
could tear it up and throw it away. Great
if you are worried or tense or angry.
Today I have included a list of short activities that can help you to keep
your mind healthy. They may not all work for you but choose a couple and
give them a try. If you like them, keep the idea for if you need it.
2. Dancing. Put on a loud piece
of music that you like and dance
together for five minutes. Let it
all out and dance like crazy.
Then rest. I love doing this one.
Greta if you are feeling sad or
tired without real reason.
3. Go into a green space, like a
garden, park, or woodland and
look quietly at tiny things. Listen,
smell and notice. Then look up
at large things. Good if you are
feeling worried or not sleeping
well.
4. Choose your favourite activity that
is not electrical based. It could be
Lego, reading, small world play,
colouring, drawing, cycling, crafting
puzzles, cooking. Something where
you get so busy you can be lost in
time for half an hour. It's called 'Flow'
and great for relaxing the brain. Mine
is sewing and dog walking.
5. Simple breathing
Lay on the floor for five minutes.
Place on hand on your tummy
and one on your chest. Breathe
in deep through your nose so
your hand on your tummy
moves. Relax your shoulders.
Breathe in as much as you can,
then breathe it all out. Repeat
ten times. Worries might enter
your head. Notice them and
continue breathing. This is
normal.

How else can people sort out their problems? The animals make
Dingo go away but what else could they have done to make life
more peaceful and still be able to drink water. We need water to
stay alive so it's an important problem to sort out.
Today we think of how we would like the animals to sort
the problem out. What else could they have done?
Bronze ChallengeOn the storyboard, draw six pictures to show what you think the
animals could have done instead of the Billabong storm. They
need to get Dingo away from the billabong or make him share.
Silver ChallengeLabel your picture with verbs to show the actions the characters
take instead.
Gold Challenge
Talk through the story with your own ending. Does it
make sense? Could you make any parts clearer. Use
the word bank and add words to your plan.
