Amelia also presented her poster at the Keck Interprofessional Research Poster Symposium and won 1st place! David Tyrpak (PSCI Program, Dr. Andrew MacKay, advisor) presented his poster tled, A novel Molecular tool for the study of cell signaling and Traffickingat the Mulfunconal Materials and Structures Gordon Research Conference in Venture, Ca. Vijaya Pooja Vaikari (CXPT Program; Dr. Houda Alachkar advisor) present- ed her poster on "Interacon be- tween FLT3 and CD99 in Acute Mye- loid Leukemiaat the American Socie- ty of Hematology Annual Meeng in Atlanta, GA. Tian Zhang (CXPT Program; Dr. Hou- da Alachkar advisor) presented her poster on "APOC2 is upregulated in Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and presents a novel therapeuc target.at the American Society of Hematolo- gy Annual Meeng in Atlanta, GA. NEWS Bi-annual School of Pharmacy Research and Graduate Educaon Retreat was a success! The SOP Research Retreat took place at the Terranea Beach Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on January 4th and 5th. The retreat was aended by SOP Faculty and a select group of students representave of programs in the School to discuss "Celebrang our Differences." Keynote speaker Dr. Shaun Harper, Execuve Director from the USC Equity and Race Center, gave an excellent presentaon on the challenges of diversity and equity in higher educaon and how to advance the Schools recruing efforts to increase diversity both in the student and faculty populaons. The retreat also hosted several faculty presentaons that exemplified cross-collaboraons at the School of Pharmacy. Finally, the retreat included several break-out sessions that addressed Promong Diversity and Inclusion in Research and Scholarshipand Translang Research Discoveries/Innovaons into the Health system to benefit paent care.SOP Graduate Students defended their PhD dissertaons in December of 2017! Tao Bi (MPTX Program, Dr. Julio Camarero, advisor) defended his doctoral dissertaon last month tled, Using the Cyclode Scaffold to Target Intracellular Protein-Protein Interacon.During his doctoral career Dr. Bi published one first–author publicaon tled, In-cell producon of a genecally-encoded library based on the Theta-defensing RTD-1 using a bacterial expression systemand he co-authored two addional publicaons. We congratulate Dr. Tao Bi as he proceeds to the next level of his career as a scienst! Grant Dagliyan (DRSc Program, Reg Sci, Dr. Frances Richmond, advisor) defended his doctoral dissertaon tled, Implementaon of Good Manufacturing Pracce Regulaons For Positron Emission Tomography Radiopharmaceucals: Challenges and Opportunies Perceived by Imaging Thought Leaders.During his graduate career Dr. Dagliyan was a co-author on five publicaons. Dr. Dagliyan is currently Associate Director for the USC Molecular Imaging Center. Congratulaons Dr. Dagliyan! Larry Rodriguez (PSCI Program, Dr. Daryl Davies, advisor) presented his poster titled, “Cross-talk between P2X4 and NMDA Receptors: Implica-tions in Alcohol Addiction and Dis-ease” at the Society for Neuroscience (SFN) in Washington, DC. NEWS Bi-annual School of Pharmacy Research and Graduate Education Retreat was a success!

The SOP Research Retreat took place at the Terranea Beach Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on January 4th and

5th. The retreat was attended by SOP Faculty and a select group of students representative of programs in the School
