• IESA was launched in 2012 with following objectives:
• To promote Energy Storage Solutions in India
• Assess the market potential of Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) in India
• Brainstorming with various key stakeholders, on policy matters
• Raise awareness about ESS in Indian industry, government and power sector
• To assist ESS technology, product, services and system integration companies to strategize and grow
Our vision is to make India a global hub for deployment and
manufacturing of Energy Storage & Microgrids
• In most of the states rooftop solar has already reached grid parity for C&I
customers with accelerated depreciation
• In many cases where there are significant power cuts in commercial and industrial
sector, saving in diesel costs can also become an important driver for adoption of
rooftop solar.

Diesel price
• For residential consumers, in most states grid tariff is much lower than Solar PV levelized costs, so
further innovation and cost reductions are required for large scale adoption without subsidies.

• Delhi’s first grid-connected rooftop solar
• 15 kW Solar roof top
• Electricity bill reduced by 50%.
• The rooftop at his place is 15 kW installation partly connected to the grid and partly off-
grid.
• Offline power recharges the batteries which have a power back up of 8 hrs.

• Mahindra launched solar powered EV
charging capabilities in 2013 as Sun2Car
• Has demonstrated charging stations for
Mahindra REVA E2O with options for DC
solar charging , Solar charging with grid
and solar + grid + storage
• Tata Power Solar installed solar vehicle
charging station at Gujarat Sachivalaya in
2015
• The pilot project consists of a custom-
designed 50 kW solar charging station
• Six electric vehicles with integrated solar
panels for charging on.
• The charging station comes with an
energy storage facility, to provide night-
time charging.
• Excess generated electricity will also be
fed back to the local grid.

Microgrid Initiative for Campus & Rural Opportunities (MICRO)
MICRO has set up goal of reducing cost of electricity from microgrids by 30-50% with in next
3 years.
Microgrids can be critical for meeting the goal of providing 24*7 energy access to all citizens
by 2019.
India has over 300 million people currently not connected to grid and another 300 million
people who get less than 8 hours of electricity per day.

(NZEB)
• Net Zero Energy Building located in Central part of India, in the City Bhopal
• Uses 2 ground mounted PV units of 67KWp with 130 MWh energy generated per annum
• Uses Vandium redox flow battery : 3 Units of Cellcube FB 10-100 @ 15KW / 100 KWh
• Demonstration project by Suncarrier Omega; incorporated as a Joint Venture Company
between Omega Renk Pvt. Ltd. and a+f GmbH, a GILDEMEISTER group company.
• Project was winner for Inter Solar Awards 201216
SECI's 1MWh Energy Storage Project
Solar Energy Corporation has issued RFP for wind-
solar-storage hybrid project.

Around the globe Solar and Storage is turning out as the
wining combination for behind the meter applications.
Current annual market for Lead Acid batteries is ~$3.5 Billion
which does not address some of the new market opportunities
India also presents excellent opportunity for collaborations for
R&D, manufacturing and exports
