Dear Parents/Friends Online Canteen At the start of Term Two the Our Lady of Lourdes canteen will be going online through Our Online Canteen. You will be able to order and pay for your child’s lunch online from the comfort of your own home, no cash required. Until everyone is familiar with the new system you will also be able to order the old way by paying with cash at the canteen. You will still be able to buy recess items and limited other items such as ice creams at lunch time. For those of you with the stickybeaks lunch bag, you will no longer require them here at school as the system prints orders off directly onto bags loaded into the printer. More information about how to get started is coming shortly. Stay tuned! Year Three Assembly Thank you to Mrs Giorgio, Mrs Gaudoin and our Year Three class for the wonderful assembly last Friday afternoon. It was great to see how confident the students were speaking in front of an audience. I really enjoyed hearing about all the great celebrations they had been learning about and seeing the fantastic work that had been done in class this year. Their rendition of the song ‘ Australia’ was a great way to finish the assembly. Thank you very much to the parents, grandparents and friends that turned up to support our Year Three class. School Banking

Getting involved in School Banking is easy!

All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:

1. Online Visit commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account.

2. In branch Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate. If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet.

School Banking is every Wednesday from 8.20-8.45 am in the Computer Room.

If your child is in Kindy or Pre Primary a box will be left in the classroom for you to place your child's banking in. The banking will be collected for processing and returned at the end of the day. For further information regarding School Banking please see the front office staff.

Year 5 Cake Stall for Project Compassion

Yesterday, the Year 5 Class held a cupcake stall to raise funds for Project Compassion. The total raised was $269, a feat only made possible by the generosity and time that the year 5’s and their parents put into baking a variety of tasty looking treats. A big thank you to all those involved including the year 6 students who helped us on the day. The year 5’s are also to be commended for displaying such genuine big-heartedness in their endeavour to raise more money for those less fortunate. It is fantastic to see them putting into action Jesus’ commandment to ‘love one another as I have loved you’ with very little prompting except for the question, ‘what more can we do?’

On Friday 3rd March, the Year 5’s went on an excursion to Elizabeth Quay for Geography. Our aim was to answer the inquiry question ‘Why is Elizabeth Quay where it is?’ by doing fieldwork. Whilst there, students took photographs of the different natural and man-made features, and even had the opportunity to test some of them out! The playground and water park were favourites amongst all students, especially on a hot day! The discussions that were generated as a result of the excursion were very exciting and as a result I look forward to reading more about their findings in their information reports! We would like to send a huge thank you to Mrs. Gow and Mr. Millington for helping make the day a success!
