Our Lady of Sorrows E-Bulletin – ShareLife Sunday #1
Sept 13th, 2020
24th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
SHARELIFE
This week are a hosting a new ShareLife Sunday because ShareLife agencies need your support now, more than ever.
“Every year ShareLife gives us the opportunity to reach out with the hands of Christ to care for those who are most in need. This is what we're called to do as His disciples: to be with those at the side of the road who are suffering, just as the Good Samaritan did. This is what it means to be a Christian.” ~ Cardinal Collins

SUNDAY
ShareLife Agency Spotlight Catholic Family Services of Toronto
“The term ‘mental health tsunami’ refers to the increasing mental health issues that have, and will continue to emerge, due to Covid-19,” says Brenda Spitzer, Executive Director of Catholic Family Services of Toronto.
Mental health problems can escalate if not addressed quickly. That is why ShareLife-funded agencies have been providing phone and video counselling during the pandemic, so clients don't have to wait until walk-in counselling resumes. No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

PRAYER CORNER
Prayer to Our Mother of Sorrows
Our Mother of Sorrows,
with strength from above, you stood by the cross,
sharing in the sufferings of Jesus,
and with tender care you bore Him in your arms, mourning and weeping. We praise you for your
faith, which accepted the life God planned for you. We praise you for your
hope, which trusted that God would do great things
in you. Holy Mary, may we follow
your example, and stand by all your
children who need comfort and love. Mother of God, stand by us
in our trials and care for us in our many
needs. Pray for us now and at the
hour of our death. ~ Amen

We will also be starting a 9-Day Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows, starting Tuesday, doors will open 45 mins before the first mass of each day. Feast Day Information
This feast was instituted in 1668 by Servite Friars. In 1814, Pius VII extended the feast to the whole Western Church in commemoration of the sufferings he had endured during his captivity in France. The seven sorrows of Our Lady are: Simeon’s prophecy at the presentation of Jesus in the temple, the flight into Egypt, the disappearance of the boy Jesus in Jerusalem, the road to Calvary, the crucifixion, the removal from the cross and the entombment. (Source: Living with Christ)
Then Peter came and said
to him, “Lord, if another
member of the church sins
against me, how often
should I forgive? As many as seven
times?” Jesus said to him, “Not seven
times, but I tell you, seventy-seven
times.” Matthew 18:21-22
Seventy-seven times is a lot of
forgiveness. Sometimes, just one time
is a lot of forgiveness too! Is there one
big forgiveness hurdle you can’t seem to
get over; something that you have been
holding onto for a long time? Perhaps
this Sunday would be a good time to give
forgiveness a try.
