IFA Speaks Out Against NLRB 'Ambush' Election RuleIn a press statement issued last week, IFA responded to the National LaborRelations Board (NLRB) announcement of final rules that unfairly fast-track unionelections. IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira, CFE, commented on the rulingstating, "the National Labor Relations Board continues to push the agenda of laborunions by mandating that union elections be shortened to limit the free flow ofinformation. Employers and workers deserve a democratic process that allowsthem to freely communicate their concerns before casting ballots. 'Ambush'elections allow labor unions to silence opponents and take advantage of thoseunfamiliar with the union election process."

IFA Supports Tax "Extenders" BillLast week, the Senate reviewed the "Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014," whichcleared the House of Representatives earlier this month. The bill will retroactivelyextend several recently-expired tax provisions to the end of this year, includingmany items that would be of particular benefit to franchise small business owners.IFA, a strong supporter of this temporary tax relief in the absence of comprehensivetax reform, sent letters to both the House and the Senate in support of the"extenders."
