  • EVENT AD

Programs Used: Microsoft WordDate: May 16, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create an Ad for an event.

Process:After looking around my apartment for something to scan, I came across a book my friend gave me last year about pugs with these super cute pug drawings. Thats when I decided to do an event for a pug adoption. I drew up a little idea of what I wanted to do with my scan and started to put it together in Microsoft Word. Good organization helps to make a flyer look good. It is important to keep the important details on an event flyer the main focus.

I also used different shades of grey in the text. My message is to let recent college graduates that there is a leadership conference available to them to help them become stronger leaders. Programs Used: PhotoshopDate: May 23, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills.

Process:I went and took a photo at a farmers market and I used a Nikon Fm2. After getting the film developed I scanned the film into my computer and ran it through photoshop and adjusted the levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. Then I designed an 8.511 layout that including my photo, text, and repeating design elements.

  • MONTAGE

Programs Used: PhotoshopDate: May 30, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create an inspirational montage by blending images.

Process:I cropped the background image to 8.511. I got rid of the Angels surrounding Christ with the healing brush. With black paint and a 100% opacity, soft-edged brush, I painted away the hard image edges. With a larger black brush at 20% opacity and 20% flow, I blended the door into the background, so it looks like it is floating in the clouds.

  • LOGOS

Programs Used: IllustratorDate: June 6, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create a logo.

Process:This was really fun project where we got to create a logo in Illustrator. After figuring out what my logo was for, I made 3 different types of logos and had a group of people vote on which was their favorite. I chose the one which was voted on most to work with. I changed my font choices to help them pop more. I also changed the position of my fonts so they are easier to read.

  • STATIONARY

Programs Used: Indesign, PhotoshopDate: June 13, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create stationary.

Process:I positioned the placed logo in the top right corner of my letterhead. Then I typed my contact information into a text box and positioned it on the left hand side of the letterhead. I made my name a larger font to contrast with the contact information. I added in a pink border to unify the information and to get some repetition. I also added a large black and white photograph and blended out the edges into the stationary.

  • BUISNESS CARD

Programs Used: Indesign, PhotoshopDate: June 13, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create a buisness card.

Process:For my buisness card design I used the rectangle tool to create the front and back outline of my business card. I then copied and pasted the logo I created in photoshop and my contact information onto this page. I kept the logo and contact information about the same size as the information on the letterhead. I also used the same photo on the back of the business card.

  • WEB PAGE

Programs Used: TextwranglerDate: June 27, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create a webpage.

Process:I created this web page using only TextWrangler. After I decided on a logo to showcase I got to coding using the pre made template for this assignment. I made the basic structure of my page and put text and headings where I wanted them to be. I then used the colors from my logo as the colors for my web page. I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool.

  • BROCHURE

Programs Used: Microsoft WordDate: July 11, 2015Course: COMM 130Instructor: Emily KunzObjectives: Create a brochure.

Process:I set up the offset brochure in Adobe InDesign. All of the images used I took myself at work using a Canon DSLR and edited with photoshop.
