    Introduction:

Hi I am Johnna Franks, welcome to my portfolio. Inside you will find projects of all different shapes and sizes that display my ability to design, create, and perform. I love being given a blank canvas and letting my fingers run wild, and conversely I love being given a challenge with specifics and pushing myself. It is so fun to see other peoples visions come to life by the work you do. Please feel free to contact me with any inquiries or questions. I look forward to working with you.

Details:Description: This image was taken from a magazine and then created a new add. I mimicked the slogan of shop for the cure with what you would normally hear with race for the cure or run for the cure. I used a sans serif front for the title because it is feminine and playful as opposed to masculine and business like, but still which and bold to seem professional and grab attention.

Process: I took an image from InStyle magazine, then I used InDesign and Photoshop to crate a completely different add from it.

Message: I wanted it to be a fun, happy, feminine, spring fundraiser that could double as a night to treat yourself and feel glamorous while helping out a good cause.

Audience: Women of all ages looking for a way to contribute to breast cancer research.

Description: This is a logo I created in Adobe Illustrator created that would be used on stationary, an offical email signature, resume and/or portfolio.

Process: I sketched multiple ideas that used my initials in various different ways. This was the one that I ended up liking the best because of its versatility and its simplicity. I liked the two different fonts used to create contrast. The size of the two fonts as well as the initials and my full name create contrast as well.

Message: I wanted this to be a professional, clean looking logo that can be used on stationary, an offical email signature, as well as a resume.

Audience: Potential employers and business partners.

    Details:

Description: The project was to make similar letterhead and business card with an original logo.

Process: Again I began with sketches and gathered ideas from other sources. Once I had the logo looking as I want-ed it to in Illustrator I began to sketch a design and re-search online for letterhead and business cards that I liked. Again I am a firm believer in less is more, I did not want this design to be busy in any way. Then I took to InDesign and implemented what I had sketched out.

Message: Professionalism, while using my name as a brand

Audience: Anyone who is in contact with my through business or looking to hire and inquire of me and my skill set. The branding will set me apart.

Details:Description: Promotional Flier for Vouant Communications advertising a leadership conference.

Process: I began to sketch my designs and ended up cre-ating a sketch that was somewhat of a combination of my two favorite sketches. I used a lot of asymmetry, rhythm and repetition in my design. I wanted the title Leadership Conference to stand out so I made that darker and more bolded than the rest of the text, then I contrasted that with lighter, thinner, body text. All the design elements are center aligned to the circle in the middle that houses the date, time, title, and logo. I put all these elements together to allow for more balance of white space on the top and bottom of the design.

Message: I wanted this flier to convey the message of successful, professional, businessperson to entice the stu-dent who wants to be a successful leader in whatever field they will soon venture into.

Audience: I am trying to reach college graduates roughly ages 25-30.

Details:Description: This is a mock example of my skills in Pho-toshop/photography for a company looking to hire some-one with experience in both fields respectively.

Process: I used the 4 basic edits on my photos that we learned in class, and then a lot of the typography elements from FOCUS as well. I began by taking my pictures, as displayed in my previous blog post. From there I thought of a color scheme, quote and sketched a design that would be fitting. Then I began to design and this was my finished product.

Message: The message I wanted to convey was something to the effect of this is what I can do in Photoshop. I know typography really well and I can take good pictures and generate a document/design that will adequately and pro-fessionally represent the company/event.

Audience: Various groups of professionals that are inquiring as to what I can produce in Photoshop.

Description: Demonstration of HTML and CSS knowl-edge displayed in a web format.

Process: I began my designing my own custom logo in Adobe Illustrator. Then sketched from inspriaton that came from viewing other websites and blogs. Then I found a background that would be cohesive and demonstrate my ability to perform in HTML and CSS. Following that I just organized and adapted all the fonts, colors, sizes and on the stylesheet.

Message: I wanted the message to be that of a profession-al and vibrant person.

Audience: Potential employers who might inquire about my CSS and HTML knowledge.

    Details:

Description: Montage project to show my ability to layer using the masking tool in Photoshop.

Process: I used photoshop and a picture of two friends of mine, as well as the Oakland temple. I used the masking tool as well as the 4 basic edits we learned last week.

Message: The message of Families are Forever is clearly written out and paired by an engagement picture as well as the Oakland temple to insinuate eternal marriage.

Audience: I was trying to reach an audience of students 18-25+ who are looking for marriage, to reinforce the idea that though the blessings of the temple we have the oppor-tunity to create our own eternal families.
