Words from Their Excellencies Greetings to the Celebrated Populace of the Barony of Atenveldt!

Thank you to all that attended The Known World Drum and Dance Symposium the first weekend in

April. What a great event with so many things to participate in from drumming to classes. HE Elena

would like to thank all that helped make her vigil and elevation a magical event that she will never for-

get.

April 9th and 10th were the dates of the first Metal and Glass Symposium. What a lofty goal achieved

by Lady Aoife and her team. All that attended were astounded by the classes offered. We were honored

to have been able to bestow a Sable Axe to Master Ritchyrd during Our very short court.

On Wednesday, April 27th, the spring Bi-Annual Hardsuit Novice Tourney was held at fighter practice

at Encanto Park. Another night of stardust that was so packed with fun, that HE Seelos’ over two year

tournament was held over into the next week, finding Lord Tristan the victor. On HE Elena’s field,

m’Lord Maverick found himself the last combatant standing.

The weekend of April 30th and May 1st was the Kingdom Arts &Sciences Collegium in the the March

Barony of Mons Tonitrus. Master Ritchyrd once again shown as an autocrat and he and his team ran a

well organized, well attended collegium. Huzzah!

As it is time for the Aten Sun to warm up these lands so that even the night can be uncomfortable,

please remember to drink plenty of water at fighter practice.

On Saturday, May 14th, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm We will be attending the Barony of Atenveldt Thrown

Weapons Practice. This practice is located at 4500 N. 13th Place, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Please join us!

At fighter practice on Wednesday, May 25th the barony will be hosting the Rapier Novice and Youth

Tournaments. If you are a rapier fighter who has been fighting less than three years and are not a white

scarf of MOD, please come out and show your prowess. If you have a youth that has extra energy that

could be better spent in battle (with boffers) please bring them out to compete!

We would like to remind everyone of the archery and thrown weapons practices. Both the archery and

the thrown weapons community are full of amazing, talented people who love to share their martial

art. For more information, check the Tome of Faces pages for each of these groups.

We continue to be in awe of the populace of this great barony and appreciate the privilege to continue to

serve.

Want Ads

The Big Red Officer Core is looking for a few volunteers to help run the Barony either as a

deputy or the principal officer. Come and learn how the Barony runs from a business perspec-

tive. Help is always appreciated and gratefully accepted. If you want more details about any of

these positions either contact the principal officer if there is one or the Seneschal's office.

Knight Marshal – authorizes fighters, makes sure all rules are followed and armor is safe,

reports incidents, files monthly reports to the seneschal and kingdom marshal. Position

open till filled.

Emergency Deputy Marshal - assist the marshal as needed, may need to become qualified as

an authorizing marshal for hard-suit. Position open till filled.

Emergency Deputy Sheriff - assist sheriff as needed, works with lost and found, organizes

and runs a watch at all baronial events, files monthly reports with the Kingdom Sheriff

and the baronial seneschal - Position open till filled

Regalia - maintains baronial regalia and is responsible for making sure it gets to events - we

currently have 2 deputies. Position open till filled

Emergency Deputy Herald - assist with field heraldry, court heraldry and possible book

heraldry. Position open till filled

Emergency Deputy Rapier Marshall - assist the marshal as needed, may need to become

qualified as an authorizing marshal. Position open till filled

Deputy Chatelaine - assist the Chatelaine with newcomers, loaner garb and as needed.

7th Bi-Annual Rapier Novice Tournament Wednesday, May 25th, 7:00pm

There will be 2 lists open

to ALL non-white scarf/

non-MOD Rapier fighters

of this fine Kingdom of

Atenveldt. Her Excellen-

cy Elena's List will be

held for individuals who

have been fighting 3

years or less and His Ex-

cellency Seelos' List is for

individuals who are non-

White Scarf/non-MOD

and have been fighting

over 3 years. Fighters are

encouraged to use which-

ever weapon's form they

feel most competent in

and may choose a different weapon's form in any round. We ask that the members of the White

Scarves and the Masters of Defense come support the young fighters and help marshal. There

will be prizes awarded for the winners in each list and the consorts who inspire them!

The List will open at 7:00, the processional will start at 7:30 pm. Please have your armor on and

be ready to begin. (All fighters will go through formalized inspections.) The field will be closed to

all other fighting until the tournament is over. Bring your Consort and pageantry. If you do not

have a consort, we can help find you one. If you would like to be a consort, please report to Her

Excellency Elena by 7:15 pm on Wednesday. Tournament format will depend on the number of

participants.



Barony of Atenveldt Semi-Annual

Youth Tournament Wednesday, May 25th, 7:00pm

Come out and participate in the glory of combat! Open to all youth ages 6-17 that want to fight.

There will be loaner gear available.

Long pants and sleeves. No open toe shoes. Sorry kiddos!

The List will open at 7:00, the processional will start at 7:30 pm. Please have your armor on and

be ready to begin. (All fighters will go through formalized inspections.) The field will be closed to

all other fighting until the tournament is over. Tournament format will depend on the number

of participants.

smells of nature's love are all around us (much to the chagrin of

those with allergies). In this time of new growth take a moment

Thrown Weapons

Live steel weapons are thrown at wooden rounds and straw

bales. Sound fun? Come try your hand at the art of Thrown

Weapons. Instruction is provided for new throwers at all

practices. Seasoned throwers can record scores at all pub-

lished practices.

Thrown Weapons Practice is held at 4500 N. 13th Pl in Central Phoenix. We have a heater and plenty of room for

watching.

Thrown Weapons Practice is on May 14th and May 28th.
