When  you  are  paraphrasing,  remember  the  following  7ps:  

1.  Reread  the  passage  un0l  you  understand  its  full  meaning.  

2.  Change  the  sentence  structure    3.  Do  not  use  more  than  three  words  

from  the  original  source  in  a  row

When  you  are  paraphrasing,  remember  the  following  7ps:  

4.  Use  synonyms  (a  synonym  is  a  word  that  means  approximately  the  same  as  another  word)  

 5.  Use  key  words  from  the  original.    You  do  

not  need  to  subs0tute  every  single  word  from  the  original.    

 6.  Credit  the  author  and  page  number

The  DO  NOTs  of  paraphrasing:  

• Do  not  just  choose  a  few  words  to  change.  

 • Do  not  look  at  the  original  quote  as  you  try  to  paraphrase  it.
