Y11 & Y13 Mock Exams

Timetables for the upcoming mock exam series for Year 11 and Year 13 can be found on our website,

along with lots of revision resources: http://kesacademy.co.uk/current-students/examination-information/

‘One Grade Up’: March Mocks Challenge

We are now preparing Year 11 students for the March mocks which begin on Monday 27th February,

the second week after half term. Our challenge to every student is to improve their score in every subject

by at least one grade compared with their December mock results.

We have made students aware of this challenge and we are very pleased with the positive response of the

year group. Last year, the March mocks gave students an excellent opportunity to show how well

prepared they were becoming for the summer exams. We strongly believe that doing these March exams

has a positive impact on final results. Papers will replicate the summer experience as far as possible and

exams will take place in the sports hall in most cases.

Can you please speak to your child about the importance of the mocks and ensure that they have a

revision plan to work from. They should take advantage of the extra sessions that are being put on by

teachers. These sessions are strongly focused on exam technique and are invaluable in helping with the

‘One Grade Up’ challenge. Additional time spent with teachers will improve results. The timetable for

revision sessions is currently as follows:

History – 3pm-4pm Tuesday, Thursday & Friday in rooms B6, B7 & B8

Latin – 3.15pm-4.15pm Monday Room B17 Time

Science- 3pm Tuesday Chemistry, Wednesday Biology B Club in E1 and A* Club in E2, Thursday

Students also have access to the PiXL Maths app and the PiXL English Literature app and there are many

revision resources for students to use as well on the school website. Students can see these resources

by scrolling down the Examination and revision tab. Also there is the timetable for the mocks.

Kind regards

Safer Schools Message

The Safer Schools team would like to wish everybody a great half term and hope all students enjoy

themselves.

The annual Mart will be coming to King’s Lynn on the 14th February for two weeks and we hope all the students enjoy what it has to offer and don’t make themselves too sick with all the sweets. However, we

do ask them to please be mindful of their behaviour and respect all the users there, plus all the stall/ride

holders.

Also, on a more worrying note, we have had reports of young teenagers that have been exploring,

entering, causing damage and being a nuisance in some old, derelict abandoned buildings around King’s Lynn. Even though we encourage students to get out of the house and away from their computers, social

media and the internet, by entering these buildings they are potentially putting themselves in danger and

at risk. The buildings are in a state of disrepair and there are lots of hazards that could cause potential

injuries.

They are actually committing offences by entering these buildings without permission so could end up in

trouble with the police. So please have the conversation with your child to be aware of this as we want

them to keep safe and keep out of trouble!

Many thanks

Pc Bolderstone & PCSO Cockerill.

Year 7 – Mrs Stonach

Attendance – this week’s winners of the form attendance of the week goes to 7W with an attendance of 97.7% - well done to them and keep it up. Please ensure that if your child is ill, you call into school to give

a reason for their absence and follow this up with a note on their return to avoid it being unauthorised.

This week 2 students were drawn at random to receive an attendance award of a £10 cinema voucher and

bag of popcorn. The award for 100% attendance went to Jennifer Miller and the most improved

Phone numbers – It has become apparent in the past few days that some parents have not updated

school with new phone numbers. It is really important that we have up to date information in case of an

emergency. If your phone number has recently changed, please let the school know ASAP.

Year 10 – Mr Waring This week’s top form class for attendance went to 10R again with a 95% attendance figure, however, there is another major star class this week who also achieved 95% and that is 10D. This is the form class that finished 6th the week before and have managed to pick themselves right up and become joint top attendees of the week, so well done to both form classes, a fantastic achievement. Hopefully by the time you read this, you will have seen the letter I sent out regarding year 10 parents evening that takes place between 4 and 7pm on Thursday 23rd February. I just need parents to read and complete the tear off slip at the bottom of the letter please, and for your son / daughter to then make appointments with staff. As promised, I will also be in attendance and accessible for any parents who wish to discuss their child’s behaviour and/or attendance. Dr Tadikonda, our Standards Leader, will also be in attendance for parents who wish to discuss academic progress. Hope to see as many of you as possible. Ollie Hicks and Mia Farnham were both awarded language stars of the week whilst Lily Smith and Eivydas Kruinis were voted sports stars of the week. Congratulations to all of you a fantastic achievement. The form class that collected most positive achievement points went to 10R once again as they managed to achieve 545 positive points, congratulations to them you are certainly on a good run of form well done and keep it up.
