Parent Newsletter Term 4 Week 8: Wednesday 6 December 2017. Kia ora tatou Our staff only day last Friday was well worthwhile with really good discussion of our curriculum developments and time to plan for next year - so thank you for your support. I was very proud of the maturity and positive attitude of the Year 10 students who took up the Sewell Peak Challenge last week. The first time yet we’ve been able to see the view from the summit! The camaraderie and support for each other was clear and it’s exciting to think of all the great things these people could do as they grow up. This theme, excitement about next steps, has continued with senior prizegiving and our Leavers’ Dinner. Both events were great showcases for our students’ culture and achievements. Congratulations to all prize winners, Zeb Markland as Dux and Kate Campbell, Top year 12 student, pictured below right, and our thanks to Reuben Mama who returned to inspire current students with a speech at the Leavers’ Dinner. With such a warm spell, and approaching the end of year, we are seeing a few issues with uniform in the junior school - the most common is wearing a jacket all the time to cover up not wearing a shirt/blouse underneath. Our Macpac jackets are designed for cooler temperatures and not for hot days next to teenagers’ skin - this leads to sweating and smelling! Parents, please check what your child is wearing and keep standards high right through to the last day, junior prizegiving, next Wednesday 13 December at 12.00pm. Our staff only day last Friday was well worthwhile with really good discussion of our curriculum developments and time to plan for next year - so thank you for your support.
