SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST

As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.

Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the

bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To

receive formation for First Holy Communion,

contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.

SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into

contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.

Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing

our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a

personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before

every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession

for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-

9408.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal

Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact

the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to

complete preparation for the Sacrament.

Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.

Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be

attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be

completed and received before attendance at a

Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church

requirements are satisfied.

SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind

as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love

for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is

made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the

vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the

Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior

to the desired wedding date.

SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL

ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments

accompany us at every moment of our life. When

we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of

the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,

to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before

you contact anyone else in making funeral

arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JULY WORSHIP: Through our parish novena to St. Anne this month: may she, who formed the Blessed Virgin Mary by witness and faithfulness to God’s will, intercede for us as a parish community to remain always trusting and faithful to the will of God in our lives. FAITH FORMATION: May fathers and mothers preparing for their child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism be given the guidance of the Holy Spirit so as to know how to lead their child in the active practice of the Faith amidst the challenges of the world. EVANGELIZATION: That the celebration of our Nation's independence this month serve as a reminder of the Founding Fathers of our Nation's intent that God NOT be absent from our lives in the public square. FUNDRAISER FOR MEDICAL MISSION

Jeanne and Alaina Guilbeau,

parishioners of St. Peter’s, and daughters of Kirk

and Jessica Guilbeau, will be going on a medical

mission to Mexico in August. They are asking for

support from the community through fundraising and inviting

you to be a part of their mission work. This weekend, they will be

on the front portico of the church selling handmade crafts and

baked goods. All proceeds and donations will go towards the trip

expenses. Please pray for these missionaries and all other

missionaries!

ANNULMENT PROCESS WORKSHOP On July 24, 2018, the Judicial Vicar for the Diocese of Lafayette, Msgr. Robie Robichaux, will be presenting workshops on Declaration of Nullity and what is needed to begin the process. Two workshop times are offered: 10:00am – noon, or 6:00pm – 8:00pm, at the Diocesan offices, Immaculata Center, 1408 Carmel Drive, Lafayette. All are invited to attend. FIRST FRIDAY OF THE MONTH - July 6th, the First Friday of the month, the celebration of the Holy Mass will be at 6:30am followed by an hour of Eucharistic Adoration where we can honor Jesus’ Sacred Heart.

FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH – July 7th is the First Saturday of the month in honor of our Blessed Mother. The Mass will be celebrated at 7:00am.

Mrs. Rose Richard has served St. Peter Parish as Sacristan for over 20 years. Her love and dedication for Jesus and His church became ever more apparent in the creative way she found to cope with the months of having to work between the church and the parish hall to prepare for Mass during the recent repairs & improvements. Centennial News LETTER SETS DIOCESE OF LAFAYETTE

INTO MOTION The very beginnings of the Diocese of Lafayette could be traced to a meeting of regional bishops held in July 1917. At the

conclusion of that meeting, a letter was sent to the Apostolic Delegate of the Holy Father in the United States. The letter proclaimed that “there was unanimity among the Bishops in presenting the request for a new diocese to Your Excellency.” The new diocese would consist of the western most part of the Archdiocese of New Orleans from the Atchafalaya River to the Sabine River. The total number of Catholics in the new diocese would be around 150,000 or 25% of the Catholics within the Archdiocese of New Orleans at the time.

A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

In today’s second reading, St. Paul offers the community at Corinth a spirituality of giving. He urges them to give and maintains that through their generosity, they will in turn be given in return much spiritual abundance. They will receive from those who are the beneficiaries of their own giving; a reciprocal gift that amounts to an equality of giving, made possible through the generous mediation of Christ Himself. This is an excellent reading for reflecting on the spirituality of giving. This week, take time to reflect on the ways you might discover a deeper joy in Jesus Christ because of your own generosity toward others.

May the Lord cause your love to increase and overflow for one another and for everyone else. ~1 Thes 3:12

REFLECTION: The Pope and bishops have told us that we are not to “accommodate ourselves” to laws permitting abortion.

This means much more than simply not having or participating in an abortion. It means not letting anything keep us from loving and defending the unborn.

PRAYER: Lord, let my love overflow all boundaries, that I may resist anyone’s effort to limit my love for those who are in danger of death.

PICTURES OF LOVED ONES SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES If you would like to have a picture of your loved one included in the church display of loved ones currently serving in the military we ask that you bring a photo to the parish office during regular office hours. All photos need to be in a standing frame no smaller than 2x3 and no larger than 5x7. We will need a name and contact information for each picture so as to periodically purge the table of those who are no longer on active duty. All pictures that were on display prior to the renovations are being held in the parish office. We ask that a family member come by to pick up the pictures of those who are no longer active or to provide contact information for those that meet the above requirements and are currently on active duty.
